The Civil War is the most important episode of American history, and one that blighted much of the country for generations. It should be discussed often and researched carefully.

Getting rid of monuments doesn't 'set the record straight', it just erodes a connection to that history for millions of Americans. It makes it harder to remember a time when people from the same places you and I are from felt differently about the role of the State and the Government, and replaces it with a single value set divorced from reality.

If you think nazi imagery will work. We are in a different context from Weimar. Some similarities, sure. But the context of those phenomena are different. The swastika was new as a political symbol, it is not now. We need our own symbolism, imagery, and need to think practically about what we do present.

We can keep the 14. Just keep the 88 in private. We need to make it clear that we have a different vision for America because we LOVE our country and don't want it to be corrupted or destroyed by third world immigration.
