Anything this movement adopts would have to use American symbolism and patriotism as the base for an American movement. Get past the LARPing, those that want the NatSoc imagery. It's not an American set of symbols or history and will never resonate with normies. There's a reason why all the successful European groups have their own patriotic symbols and don't fly the Swastika. It doesn't represent them. And NatSoc ideals aside, another thing Americans love on a fundamental level is freedom and liberty. Not authoritarianism. That doesn't mean you can't be a white nationalist and love liberty at the same time. Hell, white nationalism is a refutation of Jewish tyranny over the whites. Hence a liberty-driven movement in America due to the Jewish dominance. Also I'd say maybe adopt a slightly Roman aesthetic like our founders did in some way. Oh shit, had a silly thought. An American flag with 14 stripes for the 14 words. Not sure how many stars we could symbolically use though. First numbers that come to mind are 45 (this was born in the 45th presidency), the number of states that went red in 2016, and 88 (not good imo, because too many stars and still too NatSoc for normies). A reason why I am pushing for American symbolism above all else is that in order to resonate with normies and the youth, we need to keep it all American. European/NatSoc symbolism drives many off and also gives people a sense that we are inferior/cucking to a foreign culture. Not good psychologically. I only make an exception for neo-Roman style because our founders used it everywhere so it's found all over DC and stuff.

At the Charlottesville rally, nobody from either side was flying the American flag. People flew the swastika, the confederate flag, the BLM flag, identitarian flags and faggot rainbow flags, even communist flags. None of them get taken seriously, the get put into 'sides' of the conflict. If everyone at the rally had simply shown up with the American flag it would be considered a symbol of White Nationalism to the far left and every time they saw a American flag they would have thought of us.

Drop the fringe flags. The American flag has been subverted over decades and we can take it back in a single Charlottesville rally just by claiming it. If you want to be a fringe group, pick some new edgy flag, but if the goal is to be a serious political movement intent on taking over the country, the American flag is the obvious pick. No frills or bullshit, just pick up the flag and go be a white nationalist. Anyone that disagrees with your politics, you brand as an anti-American communist until the definition is changed. No more hiding as a fringe flag.

What is "your ideology"? The alt-right needs to seriously decide what it's about.

The free speech rallies were obviously just Trump supporters with MAGA hats and US flags - the public face of such people obviously being "no we don't care about race, we care about Americans, we're nationalists"

Then obviously in recent weeks, Spencer et al. have decided to make race an EXPLICIT thing. But when you do that, you're gonna get everybody calling you a white supremacist.

So the flag you use depends on what message you're trying to convey:

1) Support for Trump's agenda? US flag.
2) White supremacy? KKK / NSM / Nazi flags.
3) White separatism? New flag I guess.
4) Just pride of European heritage (like blacks have the pan-African flag)? Again, new flag.

The alt-right seriously needs to define a goal if it wants to make it saleable to the public. It seems to me that Richard Spencer advocates option (3), white separatism. He's often said he thinks supremacy is bad, and he doesn't want to rule over other people, instead he just wants a homeland for whites. Charlottesville should show that if you're SERIOUS about this goal, if you REALLY want to devote your time, reputation, and life towards it, then you should clearly define this goal as being SEPARATE from supremacy, so that people will take you seriously and not just dismiss you as a genocidal Nazi.

Option (4) is a softer objective than (3), although I guess it doesn't necessarily achieve much. Option (1) seems like a good option to me, because Trump is pursuing some good policies on the wall and immigration, and the more public support he gets (and which GOP politicians can see), the more likely it is that those policies will get realised.

Right, the very symbol of the country is available for use. There is only positive baggage associated with it, and the first fringe group from the right or the left to claim it gets to set the definition of it. The flag means whatever the people who stand behind it say it means. If the goal is to gain political power and stop being viewed as a fringe group, there is no more obvious or easy way then to simply drop all fringe flags and claim the American one. Grab an American flag, stick to the same politics you hold here, and call anyone who disagrees with you unAmerican.
