It was democrat-ish. There was a congress, and they allowed an oposition party. The election for president was indirect and the candidates had to be approved by the army council. The result is that in 21 years we had 3 generals as presidents. In the tougher times, they would close the congress.

I guess that any stable and prosper future for the south cone would mean a close alliance among these countries. Only an alliance, tho. We can work closely together and dictiate the future of the sub-continent without having to merge in an union in commi style, like UNASUR or EU.
