I know you all agree:
"what exactly makes someone a “good ally,” and how can an ally show solidarity with a group without overstepping? Sixteen-year-old Native activist Hallie Sebastian is here to share tips with Teen Vogue readers about how to be the best possible ally in your community, school, or friend group.
A good ally amplifies the voices of the marginalized.
Using one’s privilege to amplify the voices of a marginalized group is what being an ally is all about. From a position of privilege, straight, cisgender, white allies automatically have an advantage over LGBTQ people and people of color they wish to advocate for. Having privilege isn’t something to be ashamed or guilty of, it’s something to be aware of. Instead of taking advantage of that privilege, a good ally uses it to the benefit of a marginalized group."
