Will 3d printers make gun control obsolete?
>>
>>137577447
No, you'll just get printing control
>>
>>137577447
Let's hope.
>>
>>137577447
3d printers only make 1 shot guns from what i understand
>>
>>137577758

And what about 10 years from now?
>>
>>137577758

thats where your wrong kiddo

>>
>>137577447
will they also 3d print bullets that'd be a pain in the ass... however

3d printing will do a LARGE amount of damage to china's industry, and i doubt theyll adapt..
>>
>>137577758
>>137578000
No need for metal printers, the liberator design comes with a detachable barrel, which is the only part that could only take one shot, so you can print multiple barrels and carry them loaded on a belt and shoot 10+ rounds with very little reload time
>>
>>137577447

you'll still need a completely closed metal chamber and a firing pin and metal barrel. won't have much of a usefull gun if you make the functional parts out of plastic
>>
>>137577758
You could attempt to 3D print every single part that makes up your run-of-the-mill handgun. I your tolerences are spot on, it will function as the real deal. Save for a few parts, like the recoil spring.

Will it hold up to that kind of pressure or temperature? Probably not. Not without modifying the design a fair bit.

>>
>>137578331

3d printers that use metal don't exist?
>>
>>137578331

You realize they can already 3d print completely metal pistols? Full auto rifles are next.
>>
Absolutely yes. You can't put safeguards on these things in hardware or software and expect that organized crime won't be able to bypass it with software and physical modifications.

The average Joe won't be making guns in his basement, but gun dealing will become a lucrative criminal industry. Gun control will only serve to impede normal citizens looking for self-defence.

>>137578518
The plastic ones can last for a couple hundred shots before they break, which is way more than they need to when you can just print another one and have it become functionally untraceable.

Also, 3D printers are getting better and are able to use a variety of materials now if cost is not an object, which to have easy access to guns it won't be for organized crime.
>>
You still need cartridges, primers, powder etc.

There is a guy making handload bullets for the liberator as well. It basically uses an oversized cartridge to contain the pressure instead of relying on the plastic barrel.

It's an utterly pointless (((debate))) created by Jews who want to get laws in place controlling the technology based on fearmongering. Until half-million dollar laser sintering units are down to $100 and sitting on the coffee table anyone wanting to manufacture a weapon is better off with a hacksaw, a nail, and $10 worth of black pipe from a Home Depot.
>>
>>137577447
A 3D printer is just a CNC mill for someone with zero skills. People can already very easily construct crude firearms without the government ever knowing.
Potentially printers will get to a point where they can produce very high quality steel pieces, but thats quite a long ways off compared to the typical 3D printer today.

>>137577533
DRM is always defeated. Its an unwinnable battle.
>>
>>137577447
Not now, but 10 to 30 years downt the line most likley. Any plastic/nylon 3d printed firearms will be useless as it will not be rifled, be in .22, a 6 shooter at best and bre than are less reliable than a panther. So any gun that a knife is easier to kill with is useless as you do not risk 5 years in jail for owning the knife, knives are much easier to get and even comes with a warranty.
Any metal 3d printers are going to cost you more than a CnC machine and need more power and specialist resources (see 400W laser and atomised steel). The price of metal 3d printers are dropping quite quickly and I could see them be afforable to the public in 10 years at the least and 30 at the most (assuming we dont hit a wall).
All that being said, you can make a full auto smg from stuff from your local hardware store with no specialist tools so I dont think it would change the debate that much.
>>
>>137577447
Almost already there. We have lots of 80% builders in the US. You can get a Glock and AR with just a little sweat equity and the tooling is way cheaper than a 3d printer. The most horrifying thing is maker machines will actually result in anachro-communism as the workers themselves will seize the means of production.
>>
>>137578906
You don't even need 3D printers. The bikies over here and getting people to become gunsmiths for them and building backyard SMG's
>>
>>137578546
>>137578745

the affordable ones just mix metal powder into the plastic. it's still a pretty soft material that melts at 200-300°.

last i heard the pure metal printers are only available in industrial variants and they are very expensive
>>
>>137579557
If Pakistanis and Brazilians can do it anyone can.
>>
>>137577447
When 3D printers can print barrels and springs, yes. Last I had heard 3D metal printers produce objects with inferior strength to more standard forging/machining techniques. If that problem can be solved, then 3D printing will dominate a lot more than just manufacturing guns.
>>
>>137579816

Like computers were out of the reach of ordinary citizens just a few decades ago. I am not talking about inmediate results.
>>
>>137577758
I saw a video of a guy that used a standard mill and 3d printed parts for a plastic sks-like. was okay.
>>
>>137579847
Barrels and springs can be easily made in a home workshop using basic tools and traditional methods. This is 200 year old tech.
>>
>>137577447
Yes. That's why it was all the rage in 2011 and 2014, why you saw ads for it in every corporate news website, and then you never heard about it again or saw ads for it again. They shut it down.
>>
>>137577447

Gun control is already obsolete considering how easy it is to build revolvers and sub-machine guns with open-bolt designs, all decent quality. Considering blacksmiths build AKs with hand tools in developing nations I don't understand why gun control is a thing to begin in nations like the UK. Thankfully the Australians have showed up a bit of creativity and have built their own MAC-10s and even AR-style rifles, unfortunately mostly for criminal use but it does show the weak points of gun control.

If you don't mind getting on a list of some sort, check the Sten blueprints. There's a reason why UK mass-produced them during the ww2, there's not too many working parts and you can get everything you need to build one from your local hardware store. Not that I would recommend it if this is illegal wherever you come from.

>>137579293

This.
>>
>>137577447
Good luck 3D printing the ammunition.
>>
>>137580076

i understand.. but still.. we are talking about a machine that melts metals, without melting itself in the process, and must be able to arrange this molten metal with the accuracy that is required to not make the gun blow up in your face.

parts of the gun in the video above is 100% guaranteed reworked with other machinery like a lathe to remove the rough edges and inaccuracies

not to mention that molten metal isn't really stable and kindof explodes on contact with moisture. there would be numerous safety features and a closed and controlled environment that the machine can work in

it's still going to be expensive and unavailable for the lower classes. middle classes can just buy a gun, even here in belgium with very strict gun control
>>
>>137577533

The printers are too simple to ban, I built one.
>>
>>137577447
CNC machines have been around for a long time. They made gun control obsolete in the 20th century.
>>
>>137581729
It isn't that hard to reload shell casings. Casting bullets isn't very hard either. Lead has a very low melting point.

>>
>>137581677

It's perfectly accurate and good enough for guns

Bullet casting is a common hobby.

So is reloading.

Primers can be made from matches.

Gunpowder or guncotton are simple recipes.
>>
>>137577533
Printing control won't stop organized crime from hiring hackers and engineers to modify legitimate printers to perform illegal prints.
>>
>>137581677
>it's still going to be expensive and unavailable for the lower classes.

It won't be for people like the Cartel and Mafia that could make a huge profit selling illegal guns(which they already do). Criminals have a lot more money than you realize. There have been drug lords with a net worth of over 30 billion dollars.
And like drugs it's going to make guns even cheaper and easier to get as the market gets flooded with new illegal versions being mass produced.
>>
>>137577447
Have you seen the quality of 3d printed guns?
to even consider they could be made with anything less than a SLS printer; and actually function and withstand the pressure and heat - madness!

Have you heard of Bill Holmes?

Fuck printing; you can make them out of scrap; see his scrap MAC10, Thompson, or self reloading sheet metal pistol.
>>
>>137581958

It's the primers that are the tricky part, not the bullets or casings that you can make yourself if you bothered to build a foundry.
>>
>>137577758
3D printers can make halfway decent lower receivers (aka the serialed part) for an AR-15. Metal 3D printers will be able to make high quality ones. The "real" ones are just made from aluminum so there's no strength or mass issue.
>>
>>137577447
good luck shooting with a plastic gun
>>
>>137577447
The black market made gun control obsolete the moment it happened
>>
pipe bomb drones are where it's at desu
>>
>>137578906
Gun dealing is already a lucrative criminal industry. I think the richest dealers even make weapons illegaly but in the non 3D print way
>>
The 3D printing meme is adorable but remember all the classic weapons were made with conventional machine tools and those are not particularly difficult to operate.

Autists make good machinists. If you aren't a helpless faggot you can learn to mill, turn , weld and do basic sheet metal work. You can make things.

I see printing as a childish distraction for most users because they are so lazy they won't get into metalworking too.

You don't need to do shitty backyard work either. A hobby machinist can have better tools than Sam Colt ever did for only a few thousand dollars i.e. less money than many Anons have in their useless safe queens.

From what I understand, they've managed to engineer plastic 3D-printed lower receivers to safely take 600+ shots. By the time it actually starts breaking down, you can trivially just print another one.
>>
>>137577447

>>137582665
Cases aren't foundry items. Cup and anvil are not particularly hard to make but you have to machine some press tooling first.

All the info is on dead tree media older than the internet, so there's no effective censorship option.

Grenades would be easy to produce.

You don't need to make a single illegal object. You just need to know how. All your research can be done safely for example by study of IED defense you learn construction.

You don't need to hoard compromising data. You have a brain. Use it. Data hoarding is deadly if prosecuted especially in the EU where you have no legal rights.

If you must, a single encrypted Micro SD card can hold more info than you'll ever use or even read.

Y'all fell for the "Guns are huge mystery" meme.
They're not. It's a pipe sealed at one end. A bomb is a pipe sealed at both ends. Not rocket science, friends. Calling a "lower" or anything other than the pipe sealed at one end a "gun" is where it all went wrong.

Also gunfags will complain incessantly about home made gun trigger feel.
>>
>>137577447
I wouldn't worry about 3D printing. The know-how and skill to produce a submachine gun has been around since at least the 40's. Anyone with a decent tool shop, a moderate level of skill, and some basic materials can produce a decent quality sub-gun.
