One of the things about politics is that it is governed by unintended consequences. Meaning that people intend one set of outcomes on one hand, and then deal with the unintended consequences on the other hand.
In NLP, there is a concept known as the Overton Window. Our primitive monkey brains work like bargaining chips. We always try to talk things down to a happy mean. Therefore, NLPers like Trump or Adams know that if you start with an extreme position, you can bargain your way down to what you want. The more extreme your initial position, the more room you have to maneuver during your bargaining phase.
The Alt-Right riots, therefore, have overwhelmingly shifted the Overton Window, to the Extreme Right. What this means, is that the GOP, once considered Right, is now effectively Center. The Overton Window has massively changed, and the GOP's policies no longer represent the Right Wing anymore.

What this means is effectively the GOP can now effectively promote its positions without being Shamed, because they no longer are apart of the 'Far-Right's' positions. As a result, the GOP can now denounce the Alt Right, while keeping all of its policies and presenting them as the "moderate" answer.

You don't get it. The GOP has become the Moderate position thanks to the Overton Window shift. The median between Antfa and Neo Nazis is deporting illegal immigrants, which is what the GOP's position is. Now, all the GOP has to do is denounce the Alt-Right boogeyman and it can implement all its policies without much heartache.
Some people say that this event was a False-Flag done by the Deep State. Well. The paradoxical result is that the far right is weakened, but the right (and Trump) is strengthened. Trump gets to play the 'rational center' and at the end of the day, he comes out on top thanks to the (supposed) machinations of the Deep State. If that conspiracy theory is even true.
Regardless, the Overton Window now as shifted to favor the GOP, at the expense of the Democrats, and further riots will only strengthen the GOP in looking like Moderates. If people knew what they were doing, Trump would never be president.
