So, just another average, natural hair, no piercings, non-commie, keep to myself University student here. Sat at 3:28 AM because i have a re-sit examination at 9:30 for History, which is only necessary to enter my second year. I failed an essay and the exam, but i did learn one thing. Here in Britain, specifically Scotland, there seems to be an overwhelming desire in the higher education system to push stupid, made up "Alternate History" onto students under the guise that it's legitimate fact. For example, along with the lecturer making several in-factual statements such as a certain King Richard the second fighting in person at the Battle of the Bulge, the essay question which makes up a significant percentage of my over all mark, without exaggeration, asked me to provide evidence to support the claim that "Britain's foreign policy was to blame for the causation of the Second World War". My question is this, and at this point all answers are appreciated for consideration, Why does the west, specifically those who once held strong empires, seem to be degenerating into such an idiotic, pathetic state that it will alter history itself in order to make out it was a horrible, evil nation that caused most if not all of the atrocities it was involved in?

Tell me you're just tired and your lecturer didn't really claim Richard II was at the Battle of the Bulge, anon. I don't want to believe it.
I don't know. Maybe they can't live with the fact that we've fallen from what we once were. I think that it might be because they don't want to examine the implications. Look at Africa - people talk about wanting to help Africans, but nothing we do actually helps them. Neither bringing in fake refugees nor throwing money at them does nothing to help the people. By contrast, although the empire was a mixed bag for the natives, in general it was better for them. Maybe they're shying away from accepting this. Otherwise, it might just be that they want to ignore human nature. Their beliefs all hold that human nature can be perfected if you just get rid of your -phobias, but reality keeps on showing otherwise.
