See these people spit on the statues but fail to realise that the world was different back when they were erected. These days we have different moralities as well as outlooks on humanity whilst back then they were different.

What we consider these days as "bad" was their "fine" back then and it was just natural upbringing. It's why personally I don't really look at past events as "bad" unless the way things were at the time recognized it as such.
