It's an interesting question. If this really was a flag to cause racial division and spark a civil war atmosphere then the best way to assure that is make sure he is found not guilty.

Will be interesting to watch because, throwing everything else aside, if the attorney is allowed to show/prove they were beating on his car and he was scared/drove away to get away from them it really would change things.

I don't give a shit either way but I will say there is a TON of odd things about this issue. The red van had no driver/was used to block that side street, he was let into the area with, literally, no other moving traffic from where he came, etc, etc.

I suspect he'll get aggravated manslaughter, possibly vehicular homicide. He doesn't seem like he planned ahead so there's no premeditation and his vehicle was attacked which qualifies as aggravation.

However he did drive forward into the crowd instead of backing away and trying to flee, so selling it as a panicked attack to escape isn't going to fly.

To what degree the authorities are culpable for not controlling the protestors and for effectively dispersing the white nationalists into a hostile crowd will be what makes the case interesting. These two groups never should have come into contact with each other in this manner.
