Israel took out 90% of Egypt's (main force of the opposition) air force before it was able to even lift off in a surprise attack. The war was over after that, everything else was just cleanup with complete air superiority.

Also it's funny how everyone remembers the dominance of the six day war but nobody remembers pretty much the revers happening in 1973.
