"No, you're not allowed to be proud."

I am told I'm not silenced by the people who will actually go out of their way to doxx me and ruin my life if I dare voice my side. I am told "white people are not being attacked" by the same people who want me to feel guilty for being born white. I am told that I would "never be harassed or fired from a job for my sexuality", when the very first hair salon I worked at fired me when they found out I was straight and that I wasn't actually their "token gay boy". I was told that I would "never know the levels of discrimination members of the LGBT have come to know" when almost every day in middle and high school I was consistently referred to as a "faggot" and ended up being bullied more than the actual gays. I was told I'd "never know the sexism women face daily", when I've legitimately lost job opportunities so employers could meet gender quotas. I was told I "would never know the fear women who are raped live in daily" before and after I was actually raped at knife point. What should I have done? Defended myself against her and then have a criminal record for "assaulting a woman"? Of course not. I'm a man. I'm "supposed to like it".
Even the mayor of my own city said that he is glad to live his life without fear of persecution, but in a few breaths prior called himself a "practicing Catholic". The side he is pandering to persecutes him by default just for being Catholic and have done so for years. "Love is love" only matters when people hold the same ideals as you, it seems.

As long as your beliefs don't involve going out of your way to cause physical and reputation harm to innocent people, then I encourage and am happy that you are practicing them within your right, even if they are the exact opposite of my own. But please allow me to hold my values without fear of persecution. It goes both ways.

Many here may call me too lenient or what have you, but honestly, how does it make you guys feel knowing that if you dare defend yourself you will be referred to as "no better than Hitler?"
