Also, I made rural California and Washington red. I connected Portland to the Wash cities. This is pretty close to the 2016 districts. The coastal cities are bigger strongholds for white and non-white liberals, than an abandoned trainwreck like Detroit. How cosmopolitan do you think Detroit is?

So far it has been one of the most reliably republican states in the country. With the exception of 1996 Arizona has been red every year since 1952. It was red even back when California was red and Texas was blue. Even if Arizona was to turn blue it wouldn't be the whole state.
