Kind of weird, i am half Russian and have German. My mother's father fought for the Nazi party and my Fathers father and mother fled the soviet union.
German grandfather admits that everything in American history books about the nazi's is a lie. Says that he hates jews more than he did in Germany.
Russian grandfather said that from his point of view, the soviets were worse than the nazi's with a lot of things. They have told me countless of stories but sadly they both passed away.
Ask me specifics if you'd like, i'll try to answer as best as possible from the stories they have told me :)

To follow up with that, when she speaks about politics with friends she normally speaks in German.
As a kid, they never taught me German or Russian for that matter, thus i cannot understand anything when she talks in German or when my father talks in Russian. Really kind of a bummer.
