What the Unite the Right march was about was bringing together all White Nationalist and White Identity movements in the US. That is the only right that was involved. Only a couple people had Nazi flags, and this isn't an issue. None of us are ashamed of being white so that rhetoric has no weight. Calling us Nazis has no power over us.

At other rallies we didn't have these problems because the authorities weren't openly hostile and we didn't send people through hostile territory. For a right wing demonstration to do anything in a leftist city is madness unless we have the assurance of police help.

As I mentioned in a previous thread, the demonstration in northern California some months ago, organized after Ann Coulter's event was canceled, is an example of a smarter right wing event. There was an official venue with a perimeter. Police were devoted to preventing violence, and the crowd self-policed with people who revealed their power level shouted down and removed.

Never again choose a hostile venue if there is to be any movement through the streets, and never demonstrate anywhere the cops hate us.

I don't think we want to create rivals. What we need are alternatives which are reliable and which can be used to spread information. We have Voat and Gab and Discord, but I'm not sure I would call them reliable. I think the vital thing is to focus on opposition to censorship online, because there are still some people people on the left who believe in that, and it's hard to shut down a debate on hate speech grounds when leftists are active in the debate.

A pessimistic side of me says that all of these places will be overrun by goons and put Anita and her ilk on their boards of directors. What we really is need some kind of decentralized commenting, discussion, and filesharing solution which is browser based, controlled by the end user, and convincingly marketed as the ultimate solution to trolls and hate speech because the user is offered robust filtering options.

March and grow is a legitimate time tested tactic. Gaining support is exactly what a march is for. We did have law enforcement cooperation in this event, this was planned months in advance. What happened was that the governor signed an order and told law enforcement to make us disperse at 11:06 that very morning. Up until that point the police were fully cooperating with us, adhering to the plan that we had in place.

We are winning this fight. Every event we hold we have locals come out and thank us. We get more viewers of our podcasts, we get more people joining our organizations.
