Search Engine - Qwant
Email - ProtonMail

If you are not willing to host your services, this is probably the best normie-friendly combo yet to abandon the beast.

Do it!

It has a IMAGE BOARD thingy as well.

Yes, image, news, social, music, web and an image board. Very fast results, and a great search algorithm. I like it MORE than google, not for political reasons, but because the interface is so beautiful and cool to use. Give it a try!

If you want to HURT google, you just need to MEME QWANT, so even normies partially replace google for it.

>Brave
>Killing anything other than its' developers.

The fact that it and Vivaldi are both built on Chromium means that google ain't going the fuck anywhere, even if one of them took off overnight. An adblocker and Brendon Eich couldn't save another Blink-clone. SJWfox is pretty much the only browser that's with relative parity with Chrome/Chromium while still being completely FOSS.

Also:

>Quant
>Not free software
>Not searx

As long as the source of the software is locked, it's no better than what Google offers.

Haven't tried ProtonMail, but it seems legit.

Go huehue somewhere in FavellaLand.

Brave sounds neat and all, but what about their eventual move to display ads with associated collected info? It might be good now, but why bother if it won't be in the near future? Why not just use Waterfox or something?

>>
>>137384647
In brave you are supporting a team of developers paid by friendly advertising.

Adnauseam click on almost every ad causing:

1. inflated cost for the advertisers.
2. disruption in the adsense tracking database
3. ultimately, those costs became too high without creating any sales, so the advertiser retires the ad from google.
>>
>>137385300
this is fucking stupid
you are just giving google and ((news sites)) money, but you won't make nearly enough difference to affect advertiser behaviour
advertisers are almost entirely locked into the ad platforms now, they can't change it

>>
>>137384337
How can you abandon a product when the fucking thing your using to supposedly ditch it is the chassis for the product in the first place? The fact that Brave is built off of Chromium is like saying, "Fuck buying a Chevy! I'm going to buy a GMC instead! That'll show them!", when all the profits go to GM. You're still feeding the problem in the first place. The fact that the Google Store is where 90%+ of people go to get extensions which they will all use defeats the purpose even further.

>>137384681
Personally, I haven't tried searx too much, but at least I can hold something accountable with my data since I can throw it up on a VPS or a personal server and be done with it.

>>137384900

It depends on how paranoid, prepared, and/or stupid you are. There's a lot of tracking feature built into Chrome itself that are not opt-out and thus allow google's servers to know which browser is doing what. The page is kinda old-ish and /g/-fied but it gives a quick rundown.
https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Chromium#Chrome

Between that and the various tricks that various website use to keep track of who you are, ranging from user agents, browser fingerprinting, and a lot of scary shit, it's enough to make you not go to sleep at night.

Honestly, I can't keep up the paranoia game. I'm not doing anything blatantly illegal and the fact of the matter is with JavaScript being essential for a good portion of modern websites, it requires a fair amount of dedication and opsec just to be relatively anonymous online, dedication I lost years ago.
>>
>>137385266
My only concern with Brave is the intent to display ads/sell our info in the future. Is that not accurate?
>>
Just use ixquick or searx
>>
>>137384439
Read their FAQ. It's nothing more than an ad injection scheme + "we'll share revenue with you though". Turbokikery straight outta Alicia Rosenbaum.
>>
>>137385469
If enough people do it, it will. Some anon calculated the increased costs and sums up a lot very quickly. It's automated after all.

Then they will stop spending money in something that doesn't increase the revenues in any way. At least in that platform.
>>
>>137385592
Possibly working in advertising and said companies have paid you to shill them hence why nobody has heard of them before, And you denounce other more well known brands
>>
>>137385679

It doesn't touches google servers when you are browsing. It matters that you are not using a direct google service. Are you trying to argue that Google Chrome losing share of the internet adoption is a positive thing for them? Good luck with that logic.

If you haven't stopped using Google/Facebook entirely like 5 years ago your the biggest fucking sheep in the world. You get a pass if you are just finishing high school or you use it strictly for business but otherwise you're fucking dumb

By the way, your personal boycott of google won't accomplish anything (though I do support you) and google will continue to make profit. The only way to kill google is to break them up, declare it a monopoly and break it up and sell the pieces. This will never happen since Google is an asset of the US Government as revealed by Assange

Either that or blow up their data centers. Risky but will work 100% if you can pull it off somehow

They show white couple instead of black-white couples when search for white couples. Google shows you black people as recommendations for inventors, Baidu only shows few black guys in pictures only, because corporate websites in USA made such sites where American inventors show you black people. The best way is to not index such sites by search engine. If you search in different language for American inventors that won't be the case.

They just filter out niggers and don't index so many corporate American sites. Many sites on internet pay money to get their results displayed first or they pay directly money to Google, you see such behavior very often in YouTube, corporate music always at top of results. They made it artificially popular through television, radio, YouTube and then they say they display them because they are popular.

Bing has a poor man's version of reverse search. Google has a big database of reverse search, but it has problem finding similar pictures, Yandex find similar pictures much better. Other thing is that Google promotes more American sites, while it lacks finding 90% of Chinese sites Baidu finds, it also lacks finding 90% Russian sites Yandex finds. No search Engine finds everything, they choose what to delete from results or don't even index it. Russians and especially Chinese might be playing their own games, having own video uploading sites like YouTube and you will never see such games in Google results. They have their own internet world, even own Ebay, Alibaba or what is it called.

Not peer to peer,
PGP or OpenGPG it's assymetrical encryption with Public and private key.
Protonmail uses it if I'm not wrong.
But you can install software/plugin - Thunderbird has one - and use it on any email account.
Although any email will leave trace who contacts who, doesn't matter encrypted or not.
So if you want privacy you'd have to have email account that cannot be traced back to you (obviously for a small circle of trusted people)

Alright, I've read a little on their site, they seem secure, but have usability problems and more expensive than far more feature rich exchange online.
You can only use their clients, if you want custom domain you must pay (that's a good thing really, you pay for service -> you get service). It's more expensive that exchange online or aws workmail and it will only support their own clients. You want integration with android client that has rights to wipe device? Fuck you, here bare app. Not supporting trash like pop3 is understandable, but there's MAPI. Still worth it if you are into illegal shit and don't want your mail be given to government.

Guess I'll give them a try.

However, the algorithm is always the same: whenever a company takes off for real, (((they))) print more of their paper money, and some megacoproration of (((theirs))) just buys that company for a bunch of paper.

The only way to stop (((them))) is to abandon the vicious ideology of market fundamentalism and recognize money (outside of what you absolutely need to support your family and yourself) for what it is: numbers on your screen. In other words, STOP EXCHANGING REAL ASSETS THAT YOU SPENT YEARS CREATING FOR PAPER AND SHINY TRINKETS - BUY ASSETS FOR PAPER INSTEAD!!! And I mean real assets - real estate, majority share in business - not that stock market virtual garbage! Unless we recognize and adhere to this, the Western civilization is doomed, with the rest of humanity to follow.

When done, it'll replace Gmail, Keep, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, Photos, and Search, all with the same single-sign-on login system.
Then the user (or a company, or whoever really) can drop it into a server, and it'll just work.

When it comes to browsers, you want to keep two things in mind:
1.) JavaScript engine
2.) Project maturity
Chrome (and its forks) are really good for the former, because they all use the V8 JS engine (and soon, an update will come out that uses TurboFan, an addon to V8, which will speed JS up considerably). However, Chrome is Googlified, so make sure it's an open-source fork that has been deloused.
When I say project maturity, I refer to how long it's been around, and how frequently it's updated. A dead project is good and fine, but many sites will begin to not work for you as changes are made (HTTP 1.1, ES6,CSS3 , for example).

I personally stick with Firefox, because I'm a lameass who likes it. I'm thinking about switching to Waterfox or a Chromium fork, but I'll need to look into it for a while before I make a definitive switch.
>>
>>137411586
I personally, however, don't recommend Vivaldi. Not for any particular reason, purely because I'm not familiar enough with it to make a definitive choice.

If you can deal with only 500mb inbox sure go for it.

search this:
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=qwant&t=canonical&ia=web
then click the first topmost thing there is, and once the qwant page loads this option pops up: "Just one click to set Qwant as your default search engine!" (it did for me on firefox)

Brave is a botnet browser shilled by poo/g/eets and is created by a furfags.

The best browser is netrunner. Fuck off.

Not unless everyone did it at once, quite sadly.

It would be glorious if one could convince the central core of the /pol/s to start building a web of trust, but I fear too many redditors and shills would shit it up.
>>

Qubes OS is really good, if you don't enjoy the creature comforts of Windows.
It's mostly a neat playtoy to me, I'd rather dual-boot a semi-deloused Win10 and Arch/Kali Linux any day.
>>
>>137414605
/pol/ is a board of trust.
It's got a neat ring to it.
All it'd take is a really simple UI, and a really easy-to-use set of functions. You'd be surprised how many people are willing to give up security in the name of convenience.
>t. America, the internet, and the EU

yeah same. i just play around with it. its a great concept. if they would allow the VMs to use a pci GPU for gaming it would be way better. Itll get there eventually.

Waterfox + Startpage is good?

>>137406826

It's slow because you're using someone else's hosted instance, and you don't know how much traffic it's getting and how good the server is.
>>
>>137414888
Hard to argue against those numbers, but with the last election cycle and those fucktards who baited the MSM in such a way that you have three chan articles a week, the trustworthiness of main/pol/acks has declined to reddit levels.
>You'd be surprised how many people are willing to give up security in the name of convenience.
I saw the downloads of 4chanx, how it is shilled, and how many monkeys blindly trust it. 4/pol/ is still a great PR and recruitment board, but that's about it.
>>
>tfw cant install brave because 32bit xp
>>
So why do people hate google now?
>>
>>137415885
Even with all the degradation, look how much opportunity /pol/ has.
Its' been overrun for years now, the only difference is now the stormfags meet in public.
Personally, my time on 4chan is spent spreading my knowledge of STEM subjects, or talking about ancapism. Beyond that, it's all noise to me, unless the happenings are backed by actual news.

>>137416274
Looks like you need a quick rundown. Maybe Bing it?
>>
>>137416274
It's run by leftists.
Google 'European inventors" right now
>>
>>137416512

>why would you hate a jewish company that tracks everything you do and sells your information to everyone
>>
>>137384272
Honestly, would that be so bad?
Brave isn't compromised by CIA, and it/s not run by a bunch of SJW retards. That should be what only matters, since some browser somewhere will always be collecting ad info from you, anyway.

Right? Look into Pictures.
Now google 'European History People' and also the Picture tab
>>
>>137416820
>and it/s not run by a bunch of SJW retards
That's the hill you choose to die on, eh?
I'd rather use a browser whose specific purpose is to let you browse freely, without any middlemen or spying that I myself do not authorize.
>>137416976
Your first mistake was using iOS.
Just kidding (mostly). You're fucked on iOS, because no matter what browser you use, their app policy for browsers dictates that it must use Safari in the background.
So you're just using a skinned Safari.
>>
>>137417116
What's this European inventors awards bullshit? And why are the EU history people black?
>>
>>137417376
>>137416976
Apple’s App Store policies state: “Apps that browse the web must use the iOS WebKit framework and WebKit Javascript.”
>>
>>137417461
Because Google want people to believe Blacks were Kangs n shiet.

Google is mostly ran by communist non-binary people

Close enough really

I just thought it interesting that six out of 13 top execs at Google are women.
Really makes you think

I'm going to try Bing/Brave, keep exchange online as my mail and switch to gappless build of lineage (currently running full gapps).
We'll see how it goes without Google.
>>
>>137417376
Anon, the important thing here is whether or not there's a CIA backdoor built into it. Any other concerns are personal, and let's be real here, pretty stupid.
>Hurr I don't want someone selling my info to ad services
Nothing is free. The "free" browser needs to make money to keep operating, somehow. So what if some company like Macys starts showing personalized ads? Just ignore them.
