The point of a statute is to be a physical reminder of a certain event or person. In and of itself a statue has no power, the thoughts and ideas behind the person are what holds power long after they're dead. It's the physical embodiment of who or whatever is represented, which is why if I lived in Russia and walked past a statue of Lenin I'd just think "Yeah, there's one of those faggots that turned Russia into a bunch of faggots and got killed by his faggot buddies." I wouldn't want it taken down. I'd want that thing to survive for centuries.

Nobody gets up in arms about this for any meaningful and well articulated reason. It's all just feelings, feelings they could otherwise ignore if capable.
