Ibn Ishaq wrote biographies and not strictly collecting hadiths for making fatwas and so on.

Usually sahih hadiths are sahih because several different people wittnessed the same thing and told the same story or when they told the story only minor details are different from eachother (like for example one word in a quote and the word does not change the meaning).

But to tell a biography scholars have been willing to use weak hadiths. For example hadiths with only one witness or a unreliable witness. For example the stories from Khaybar (where the jews got executed) was stories he collected from Jews who witnessed it, many who were small children at the time. He likely checked the stories he could check, but he was known to collect stories from jews and christians. Basically so that we have their perspective in muslim texts as well. But they obviously might have an agenda.

But even though the stories could come from jews they might still be sahih. Ibn Ishaq also have tons of sahih hadiths as well, but because he did not write to with the intent to make fatwas, he wrote them to tell the story, so he sometimes accepted weak hadiths. For example to show how christians and jews experienced those events.

And they can be real even though the evidence is weak. It's just not something muslims base their religious practice or faith on because the evidence is weak.
