There is little appetite for books in Africa. Continental literature is generally on a juvenile level and rarely translated. The author of one Wikipedia article (he reads like an apologist for this dismal output) claims that the reason why the scholarly work of Africans is, "under-utilised, under-valued and under-cited," is because it isn't easily accessible. Leaving aside the highly questionable value of this material, this lack of accessibility is not surprising when one considers that while Westerners feel put out if high-speed w-fi is not available, many Africans count themselves lucky if they can get a dial tone.

Historically Africa didn't (and except for a few rare cases, still doesn't even in modern times) have the natural resources to acquire wealth and technology required to build institutions and form a civilization.

This basically all starts with access to food...no food = no people to work and build up your civilization..that's why so many tribes were nomads back in the day and spent much of their time searching for food..and it's certainly a reason why, while the Cradle of Life began in Africa, the Cradle of Civilization began in Mesopotamia. People discovered how to farm and this allowed time to do other things like invent, build, philosophize, etc.

Does this mean modern day niggers in Africa are stupid? Not necessarily. The US plays a role in balancing powers in the region while we deal with issues elsewhere in the world. My theory is that once Russia and North Korea are taken care of, we will look towards nation building in Africa.
