Racial "nationalism" arose out of feelings of oppression. Whites have never really been oppressed outside of African countries, so their "nationalism" has always been built on superiority instead of pride.

American nationalism is peculiar (and yes I have been there, in the south actually) I wouldn't really consider it to be nationalist in the same sense a British Nationalist would be.

It's more like state pride, and allegience to the flag. I spoke to a lot of blokes who railed against some other state, "Those damn Californians" or "New Yorkers are all assholes" ecetera.

Americans just seem to love their flag...
