I used to live literally on the same block as this statue, it's at the corner of a triangular block and I lived and worked at the youth hostel situated on it. keep in mind a couple of blocks away from here is a gigantic troll statue under a bridge, there's a rocket ship across the street and a street sign pointing to space giving directions to xanadu a block away. nobody there really cares about any of the politics associated with the statue, most people know little more other than he was a communist. it's at the neighborhood because the neighborhood likes being "lulz so randumb" which is it's tourism selling point. "lulz randumb" is the attitude towards the statue held by almost everybody who lives there. seattle doesn't have angry liberals like oregon/california cities because people in seattle have money. you're looking too deep into it.
