Can someone please explain to me the strategic idea behind having the swastika armbands and nazi flags at the rally?

If the goal is to show that the REAL racists are anti-white SJWs/BLM/Antifa/etc., and that the media are hypocrites in their coverage, and the police (or at least the city politicians directing them) are on the side of the leftists, etc etc etc (all things I agree with). Why give anyone the ammo of being able to point to morons waving actual Nazi flags there?

I don't believe that 100% of the people at the rally were unironic neo-nazis, so why did no one tell them... "I don't think this will help our cause." At least if their cause was to actually draw more centrist-right people further to the right by exposing the violence of antifa against a truly peaceful rally.

Am I missing something?
