In 2014, 32,675 people were killed in 29,989 crashes, an average of 96 per day.
The number of pedestrians killed in traffic jumped 11 percent last year, to nearly 6,000. That's the biggest single-year increase in pedestrian fatalities ever, and the highest number in more than two decades.
/pol if every time a tragedy with a gun sparks debate on gun control, shouldn't this rise in car violence bring us to a debate on car control?
