After research, realized I couldn't pass Top Secret clearance because of ongoing issues with anxiety and PTSD. It's not my fault. I was held at gunpoint by a 17 year old kid from my high school when I was 13 and watched him blow his Face / Off with a 44 magnum when the police surrounded the building. you're likely referencing your asvab score. It's percentile based... the highest being 99. Your GT score is your General Technical score or whatever it's called. At least in the past, it was closely related to IQ. It is still the deciding factor in what jobs you qualify for in the military. Anything above 110 will let you attempt most jobs. It's not exceptional though.... just above average.

The military is relatively smart. We bring in the whole lot, of the physically able we put them on the front line. The smartest on the front line are either made combat leaders through promotion, or sent to an administrative job. Those that don't prove themselves well enough just remain on the front line until experience is enough to go succeed without natural wit. These tend not to get desk jobs but actual front line leadership positions (non commissioned officers). Don't think that they are just rookies in the field without guidance. The whole way they are guided by experienced senior soldiers. That is how i can best describe it as it was told to me by an old friend of mine (retired captain).

The line for "Mental Retardation" is an Adult IQ of 80 and lower.
