Religion is beneficial to some people because it helps creating customs and culture, as well as a feeling of belonging. There are some moral teachings found within religion which are good, because they represent the wisdom of ancient people. However, there is no evidence for believing in a deity at all. The only way to further our understanding of the universe is through the study of physics and math. Organized religion tries to present an artificial understanding of the universe that was completely crafted by humans, but they market it as the word of god. Believing in religion might make you feel good inside because you think you are going to heaven but actually you are just believing something that you probably have been indoctrinated with since birth.
