White people are not stupid. They will feel marginalized and persecuted against due to the media's coverage of this, and the greater crackdown of "white supremacy" after this. The Dylann Roof shooting was much more reprehensible than this and it is what led to the confederate flag bannings and statue takedowns, eventually leading to this protest.

What happened was not a violent uprising, planned terrorist attacks, but a mostly peaceful demonstration of thousands of young white men and women. Normies might see certain pictures and go "ew weird neo-Nazis" but also not everyone there was like that, normies are not dumb. If the Left thinks this is some kind of victory for them and makes a social justice power grab, how will that not bbackfire.
