I visited Texas recently.

I didn't get to spend a whole lot of time in Houston, but I did go through there briefly. My impression was that it felt like a pretty bland city that had become really overgrown. It didn't seem to have the distinct culture of cities like Austin or San Antonio. Its only noteworthy point seemed to be its sheer size.

But again, my experience with Houston is limited so I may be judging it unfairly.
