I don't get it. 40% of the population lives on the coastline around the united states. The page says this number would increase by up to 8% in 2020 Why do people consider rising population a problem with living space when you can just move inland.

Its not just space. Competition for resources, jobs and housing. The LA metropolitan area now extends up to 80 miles from the coast. If you moved to rural Glendora or Fontana in the 60's you would have been overtaken by urban sprawl in your lifetime.
