There is essentially zero info on this part of the world compared to the rest of the world. You mean to tell me the whole world avoids basically the mass of a continent because it's cold? Wtf is up
>>
I'd imagine a FUCK TON of it is cold, but theres gotta be some parts where theres like Volcanos and shit, and actual habitable land.

Theres also gotta be some like grasslands and minerals and shit, maybe stuff they're hiding from us cause shekhls.

Also some say that the Nazis are still hiding down there or in the Arctic with their UFOs in shit but that theory is a little "out there".

Antarctica was once a lush green paradise. Polar shifts are real, and this landmass was moved there after the last great continental shift.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2182505/Scientists-reveal-green-lush-past-Antarctica--warn-return.html

This also means the possibility of an advanced civilization existing on the landmass is very real.

You have to go out of your way to get anywhere? Why aren't planes allowed to fly over Antarctica?
>>
Imagine a place so incredibly cold that being outside for 3 minutes without any clothes on will kill you. That is how cold antarctica is in most places. It is a massive, continent-sized glacier miles thick, and for hundreds of miles there is nothing but flat, icy, windy, inhospitable conditions. No wildlife or plant life for as far as the eye could see-- one hundred fold. There may have been ancient civilization there many many years ago, but they along with all their information are now gone. Beneath the ice is an untold history, which we will likely never be able to find or even decipher. From fossils to evidence of societies, it will never be found. The truth is, yes, we don't know very much about Antarctica. There could be an unknown species of ice-hominids adapted to the harshness of the climate, perhaps living underground. But we don't know virtually nothing. The wildlife gives us major discoveries as to how ecosystems work- the location gives us information about the poles. We learn about ocean currents and astronomy, even information from the thickness of the ice. Bacteria preserved dozens of meters underground inside of ice samples or even certain materials found in the ice give us an idea as to how life on Antarctica used to be. It is hypothesized that the continent used to be a lush, vegetated land during prehistoric times.

The only thing that could be fishy about it is the vast unknowingness of what lies underneath the ice. Or what might be lurking around on the icy plains.
>>
>>137035554
Yes. Because getting resources and aid if needed is tricky on the roads that are always changing and you'll be far as fuck from any civilized world.
>>
>>137036070

>>
Smugglers ship children across South America and ferry them to the continent in the summer months. Giant Soros-funded child sex colonies are hidden in underground bunkers. Perfect place to keep them, once they've outlived their usefulness they're tossed to the tundra.

There's a research base that's operated down there. Herzog did a chill movie about it.

Anyway the big reason why we don't know much about it is because it's a frozen wasteland and exploring it really sucks.

Think about what would happen if a plane went down in the middle of Antartica. Not a good situation. So commercial planes are routed around.

There are a few airfields on Antartica operated by research instituted and the Air Force. Planes have flown over Antartica, just not commercial planes.

It's lethally cold, not habitable or traverse-able without winterized facilities and support equipment. Also need a stable supply chain since nothing can really grow there besides lichen and moss. And even with all that, a single storm can fuck it all up and put you in a life-threatening situation.

There might be some exploitable resources but setting up the infrastructure and trying to maintain it is simply not worth it. All the other stuff is purely for scientific interest and countries aren't exactly eager to throw money at that.

Planes are rated by their ability to fly on one engine. Large airliners are generally rated for 3 hours single engine time - i.e. If something goes down, you have 3 hours to get to an airfield capable of safe landing.

There is actually a great deal of trans Atlantic flight history here, go check it out.
>>
>>137038042
Unavoidable risk, there's a reason a flight from London to Dallas will go up through Scotland, over Greenland and then through to Canada before turning and heading south. Minimizes the amount of flight time over deep ocean far from coasts.

It's a containment system
Think like in Jurassic park (the books) the dinosaurs needed a food additive, if they left the island they wouldn't get it any more and break down.
