You don't want us to have carriers. That's how US destroyers get their shit pushed in.

>On the night of 2–3 June, Melbourne and her escorts were involved in anti-submarine training exercises. In preparation for launching a Grumman S-2 Tracker aircraft, Stevenson ordered Evans to the plane guard station, reminded the destroyer of Melbourne's course, and instructed the carrier's navigational lights to be brought to full brilliance. This was the fourth time that Evans had been asked to assume this station that night, and the previous three manoeuvres had been without incident. Evans was positioned on Melbourne's port bow, but began the manoeuvre by turning starboard, toward the carrier. A radio message was sent from Melbourne to Evans's bridge and Combat Information Centre, warning the destroyer that she was on a collision course, which Evans acknowledged. Seeing the destroyer take no action and on a course to place herself under Melbourne's bow, Stevenson ordered the carrier hard to port, signalling the turn by both radio and siren blasts. At approximately the same time, Evans turned hard to starboard to avoid the approaching carrier. It is uncertain which ship began to manoeuvre first, but each ship's bridge crew claimed that they were informed of the other ship's turn after they commenced their own. After having narrowly passed in front of Melbourne, the turns quickly placed Evans back in the carrier's path. Melbourne hit Evans amidships at 3:15 am, cutting the destroyer in two.

You mean like HMAS Canberra and HMAS Adelaide?

They may be Landing Helicopter Dock vessels for amphibious warfare, but they are basically Aussie fits of Spanish Juan Carlos I, which is Harrier (and future F-35B) capable.

So yeah the Aussies totally could operate them like carriers. It just requires a significant investment in aircraft, personnel and equipment.
However it would mean the ships are no longer capable of performing the tasks they were bought for in the first place because the jets reduce the amount of helicopters and ground vehicles the ships can carry. So potentially a third ship may not to be bought to offset that. Or a whole new defence strategy needs to be thought up.

But it is possible. It just requires a shedload of money and the political will to do so.

The only reason for getting one is that it allows us to project force away from the mainland which lets us keep a tighter leash over all the shitty island countries that we're somehow responsible for because we're the only adult in the whole region.

We'd never conduct solo operations against anyone else with one, we don't need one for defence, and any coalition ops we have will be with partners who have aircraft carriers or bases to operate from.

But we can project power just fine with the forces we have anyway. It's not like any of those shitty nations will be able to resist our Navy as it is, so why spend so fucking much on a boat we don't need.

We have two F-35B-capable carriers anyway. We just call them LHDs to keep the Greens quiet.

My thoughts also. Any conflict that would warrant the show of force a carrier entails would likely infer support from the United States and others aligned with Australia's ideals.

Australia would do well to instead invest more in their ground forces so as to add a meaningful contribution to such a collaboration.

It's hard to know for sure what would happen in reality, but US Navy's whole battle strategy revolves around preventing that kind of thing.

In the infamous millenial wargame when our carriers were "sunk", the guy who acted as the enemy general didn't use submarines, he used speed-boats.

china imports as much food as they can get from us, its made meat prices here double

the US has blocked free trade with us for decades to protect your farmers

we lack on the manufactured goods side importing just about everything

moot point though as only the American navy is large enough to blockade our extremely large coast line

Judges running for election is a good thing. The people hold them to account every 2 years. Our Sherrifs have to run for their elected position as well. If they're bad we vote them out. There are 3 shitskin states, CA, NY, and FL. That's where all of the jokers come from. They breed like rabbits and that's why they have so much visibility. Luckily the men who founded our nation saw this coming and protected us from it.

Actually, Trump should challenge the bill that prevents federal employees from being fired as easily as private sector employees.

Also, remember it is an executive order that allowed public sector employees to form unions which is something even the Democrat's hero, FDR, was against since he thought it wasn't right for public sector employees to form unions.

Since it was an executive order and not a bill, Trump could actually revoke that executive order that allows public sector employees to form unions.

No, it means that if a Judge is improperly interpreting the law we get to vote him out of office. They have to campaign, but if the step out of line they get voted out of office. I feel bad for people who live in lifetime appointment states. In my case, I always vote for the Judge that cracks down the hardest on beaners. That's why Texas is and will always be a red state. The system is set up to give informed and responsible voters the biggest voice.

he couldn't see the bumper sticker [we stop for no one]
>>
>>137039056
And who gets decide if they are interpreting the law properly? the Judge with legal training or the general population in his electorate?

The reason probaly why your Judges misinterpret law in the first place is because they are trying to skew the interpretation of the law in a way that will curry favour with their voter base.

Maybe im a little bias because im a Law graduate but I found out a lot of 'highly questionable' practices in the american judicial system that imho leaves it more prone to corruption than any other modern western judiciary.
>>
>>137039021
It turns out all our big expensive guns and detection systems couldn't do a damn thing to small commercial boats. The Navy claimed he "cheated" because no one in a real conflict would ever attach modern naval weaponry to civilian speed-boats. He also loaded them with munitions and used them as suicide boats too. He ended up destroying most of the US ships and killing over 20,000 personnel and they got pissed and called for a reset. The guy playing the enemy general was so pissed because they had asked him to try his best to win. Ironically the whole game was designed to test the Navy's capability against asymmetrical warfare.

Well the people who get to decide the virtue of the Judge's record are the people who vote in the election. We get the justice we desire as a majority. The best part is that some niche person doesn't get to decide how justice is dealt with. The community decides how it's laws should be interpreted through the ballot box. Is that a bad thing?

>>137037321
Actually it's the inverse. Improved technology to get things into orbit means that in war, less things stay there.

Well, everyone else is fucked but the USA. We've got the best anti-satellite missiles, missile-intercept missiles, and , and unbelievable bunker-buster tech. We already built a massive passive sonar and radar net across the entire planet, and got the computers to figure it all out.

Winning a total war scenario against Russia is getting pretty close to good. The secret weapon is capable of first-striking most of the ICBM silos and bunkers without any warning. The anti-satellite plan is maintained in realtime. We've built the eyes and the ears to actively track the subs. And we're still installing the missile shield despite objections to hopefully catch whatever else filters through.

I've lived in Texas for 20+ years and the most radical thing we've done is, actually, wait a second, we went for Cruz in the GOP primaries. I voted for Trump, but the state didn't go that way. Texas went exactly the way it always has. Establishment GOP in the Primary, GOP in the general. The one beautiful thing about Texas are the Tejanos, people who are of Hispanic descent but have lived in Texas since the beginning. The Tejanos I know are just as Conservative as I am. This state is not flipping any time soon.

It was not just the navy it was all branches, it showed the weakness of the current USA military doctrine, and the ignored it cause they should have won.

Point was military is so high tech that some one uses a low tech attack could win against them

The ute is dead and has been dead.

Holden is losing all domestic manufacturing which is the equivalent of Chevrolet pulling out of US production and importing it all from Mexico and China. Why bother buying it?

Their sales reflect this sentiment. They're in a very steep decline, and I do not believe there's any hope for recovery barring drastic changes that I do not see coming.

The bulk of future Holdens will be made by chinks. They may get a few American-made cars, like they're getting the new ME Vette.

They will get two more cars, a pair of them, but I can't say for sure where they'll come from given their low volume.

Agree. Bantz aside, you don't need one. Your military interests are entirely regional, and your region happens to be populated by a shitload of islands, which happen to be unsinkable.

Buy another or you'll be buying a Hyundai next.

We would need to join as multiple states I think so we get enough representation. I think the average state in the US has about 6 million people. So we could join as 6 states since our population is over 24 million

we ordered one from the poms to replace the Melbourne but the argies invaded the falklands and the poms decided to keep it for themselves

we've spent the last 30 years pretending we didn't want it anyway

You'd be the third most populous state, the fourth largest economy, and the largest territory by over half.

Don't need multiple states.

The Falcon is dead, and will be for the foreseeable future.

Hey, I've got a shitbox Honda. Was waiting for the new Trans AM, but GM shitcanned Pontiac, killed the GTO (Holden Monaro) and released a $60k Camaro which way missed the target price point. For $60k, I'll buy an M5 or M6, not some kid car. It's a shame. Now I'm looking at fucking Mustangs to give me my cheap manual with an 8 cylinder.

>>137041796
I had xf falcons in the late 80s
vn commadores in the early 90s
ef el falcons in the late 90s
au falcon early 00s
vs commodore late 00s
Hyundai lantra 09-15
and now a holden astra shitbox because I got it cheep
and that's just the drive cars
Nissan patrols and landcruisers for play

I work for GM and I drive a Honda, too. Fuck GM, they make absolute garbage.

The new Camaro is $60k if you're looking for a tits-out ZL1. For $60k, you're buying a 530i equipped somewhere between poorly and moderately. Forget about an M5 or M6.

Want a cheapish V8 manual, get a cheap 1SS. It's $38k. Buy the Mustang instead, though.

I don't like the new Camaro. I don't like ANYTHING GM makes right now, Cadillac included, besides the Escalade and maybe the Corvettes and V's.

>>137042301
Noice, you're going to get some big toys from across the pond for Holden in a few years.

I've never priced an M5 or 6 seriously, but used it seems like you're in the $50-60k price range, new it's $80-$100, no?
I bought a totally loaded anniversary car in '02 for $27k. LS1, T56 transmission, you name it, I had it. If I wanted a loaded out Camaro I'd pay $70k right now. It's retarded to pay that much for a fucking Chevy. Shit, I'll never pay more than $30k again for a car. I'm looking at the Civic SI desu right now. It's around $30k with every option, light, cheap, and comes with a stick. Why is it like pulling teeth to find a manual transmission with a fucking GM? It makes me so made that they build all of these performance cars for faggots who can actually drive a car.
I think I'm going to stick with my paid off nipmobile. If you fuckers released the Ute here or rebadged the Camaro as a Trans Am I'd be in, but no thanks.

LS family is the best engine you can buy. There is a reason it gets swapped into pretty much any car platform you can imagine.

>Had an XF

My first car was an 89' XF S pack in 2010, had nothing but troubles with it (fucked alternator, ignition was buggered). Spent more time in the shop getting repairs than out on the road. After all my efforts of finally getting it road worthy, it got stolen, and after two days of it being stolen, I saw it driving around with a a new paint job and rims.
