Friendly reminder that if you're a person who respects their individual privacy and freedom, there is no reason to be using the products created by the botnet that is the Google company.

There is a plethora of options available for you to replace your Google apps that are lighter, faster and better in general, including respect for freedom and privacy.

Honest question:
Why isn't TOR on this list? Sure it has been compromised by the NSA, but we are talking about not beeing tracked by google which it can do. Other than that it is still pretty fucking safe and anonymous.

>Tor is compromised
No. It's not. It doesn't matter if the NSA owns nodes (I haven't seen any proof that it does but this is commonly said for some reason) it does not mean that the encryption that Tor uses is compromised. Stop spreading FUD and misinformation. Tor's encryption is a standard, and the only way information could be leaked out of Tor is if:

1. You are a retard
2. You are using HTTP sites
3. You de-anonymize yourself

Seriously, the source code for both Firefox and Tor are completely open source and are regularly audited and have any issues that come about fixed. Most Tor exploits rely on JavaScript, and if you disable JavaScript using NoScript, which is included, they won't effect you.

>4chan is botnet
Correct, the source code for the engine it runs on is not available. vichan source code, lynxchan source code, Infinity source code, they're all open for peer review.

>Recaptcha is botnet
ABSOLUTELY CORRECT
4chan pass is the only way out of it. 4chan could implement their own internal captcha, but due to the resources required I seriously doubt such a thing would happen.

Where does Torch scale up on the list?

Also when it comes to Broswers, the big used are Chrome (Firefox), Safari, IE and Opera.

When building websites it is always these browsers that we have to try to target for compatibility and even though many web browsers have gotten better over the years, they still not 100% the same thing when handling the code. So my question to you is, how do these other browsers handle certain websites? Especially with HTML5 pages?

>>
>>136978002
OP as an update on future threads, can you also include links for where people who want to contribute code can go?
E.g. projects like ipfs that need more people working on improving internet infrastructure, decentralization, privacy, security and so forth.

It's not enough that people get away from the botnets. Some of us want to actually contribute and improve the situation.

If there's one thing incredibly important right now, it's retaking control of the internet from ISP's, search engines, and fake news media. We need to make the internet by people and for people again.
>>

Full traffic on TOR isn't easy to track, but you have to remember you don't know who sets nodes up. You can just set node up yourself and take over packets going through your station. If it happens to be exit station, you can monitor the traffic. It's probability game. Node can be set up by genuine, honest guys who won't spy on you, by chineese data miners, or law enforcement. Just remember about it when using it.

>>136984388
Does it support windows?

>>136983238
This. Are they planning to block sites they label as not trustworthy? What they can do besides that? Browser isn't search engine so they can't block search results themselves, besides if they would cooperate with google, there would be no need to create blocks on browser level because google could delist their own results. But then again you can just use different search engine.
>>
>>136985776
The coding part isn't an issue. There are multiple multiple free and open source captcha services available. However with machine learning it is becoming increasingly easy to get past the old image-based captchas. Management issues could be related to performance, and there's also the isssue of security. Say 4chan kept recaptcha around but also made a non-botnet local captcha: Attackers would go for the local captcha because getting past it would be much easier. Anyone could wipe /pol/ at any given time. It's not hard at all. All you need to due is pay a company to give you access to a bank of private proxies on residential IPs and then pay a captcha solving service to handle the solving of any and all captchas. Recaptcha solving services cost $3 for 1000 captchas. How much do you think it would cost to wipe /pol/?

>4chan could implement their own internal captcha, but due to the resources required I seriously doubt such a thing would happen.

Shitty BBS's and web 1.0 forums have had their own captcha implementations for the better part of two decades. 4chan itself USED to have a non-google captcha, but was switched over to google because Moot wanted to help their book scanning algorithms and he probably got money from it on top of things.

Implementing non-google captcha is NOT difficult in the slightest.

"non-free" means "they're not open source". Which means, "I cannot view their source code and verify that they aren't spying on me or doing other nefarious things"

The only software you can 100% trust is what you're able to audit and verify yourself. Open source allows that. Anything closed-source does not.

>>136986462
Non-free as in the source code is not available. You don't know what actually makes it run. It steals the source code of upstream chromium, and uses that as the backend. With Opera VPN, you are the product. Your data is what makes it free. The entire thing is just Chromium with no real improvements. Opera doesn't have better privacy than Chromium or Chrome.

>>136986491
Implementing one is easy. The resources required for captcha generation on the other hand are not. It could be computationally expensive to generate captchas for all the users of 4chan, although I'm not entirely sure.

>Name one thing wrong or non-free or non-private with having your anonymous metadata in google.
Why should any meta-data be present at all? Ask yourself that question.

>Google apps are more convenient and better than alternatives.
Entirely subjective. There are multiple applications that can do everything that Google can do.

>No other search is as good as google
Why do people use search engines any fucking way? Bookmark the sites you use. Do you google "4chan pol" every time you prepare to come to 4chan? Bookmarks are a wonderful feature. Use them and don't search unless you need to. Say you want to look something up on WikiPedia, use the wikipedia search engine. Wikipedia is open source and runs on MediaWiki. If you need Google's results, use startpage or searx or anywhere else.

>No e-mail filters are as good
The only way you'll get spam in your inbox is if you sign up to stupid shit. Use Apache Spam Assassin on your own server or use a service like OpenMailBox or Protonmail or Tutanota.

Try Pale Moon. If you don't like that, give another one of the browsers up above a try. If you do use Pale Moon, you should do a couple appearance-related changes. Hide the status bar, and use the personalization interface to make the icons in the top-bar interface smaller. This isn't required, but makes it look a lot better. If you get stuck with anything related to Pale Moon, you can ask in the forums or you can use Google.

Qwant search engine still hows a bunch of blacks when I search for "white american inventors", and so does duckduckjew.

Searching "American couple" on qwant still shows a bunch of blacks. It may seem like a silly test but all these fuckers still follow the goddamn agenda. Searx is the same thing, same results.

If they all borrow results from google in one way or another, then there is no escaping the propaganda.

Because the reason you get all the niggers on there has nothing to do with the search engine, but manipulation of how they work.

WE WUZ KANGZ pages basically spam American Inventor in all of their pages, articles heck probably the code as well and they get on the first results when you search American Inventors.

>>
>>136990366
Stupid nigger, the repo for Icecat is literally generated from Firefox, see (emphasis added):

>IceCat is GENERATED FROM Firefox with the scripts available at http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/gnuzilla.git

From the script itself:

>Retrieve FF source code
>wget -N ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/${FFVERSION}esr/source/firefox-${FFVERSION}esr.source.tar.bz2.asc

No doubt GNU uses some of their own code, but the fact is that it is also literally using Mozilla's own code. If Mozilla does something sneaky, then it'll end up in Icecat when you build it.

It is based on chromium, the base of the chrome browser. Developed by g**gle. It has built in features such as recording user keystrokes, sending user statistics (websites you vists) back to g**gle, also neat features like having webcam and microphone access.

Also as far as search engines go you're never going to get something as good as google every so just accept that before you begin I've used a lot of the alternatives and desu duckduckgo is the best in terms of relevant search results.

I hurts people advertising on google. Then when they realize they aren't making enough money from joogle ads, they will stop their business with them. Most of their revenue is from ads btw

I use one. I literally just use it for imap and clover. Supports pretty good privacy keys and the q10 has a removable battery. OpenVPN works-ish.

Friendly reminder that if you're a person who respects their individual privacy and freedom, there is no reason to be using the products created by the botnet that is the Google company.

There is a plethora of options available for you to replace your Google apps that are lighter, faster and better in general, including respect for freedom and privacy.

You should add firefox with hardended user.js or a fork or something. Mozilla sucks dicks but Firefox is still gold. It's the best browser for max privacy. Tor browser is built on it.

Ok so appchanX was a bit awkward to install since there is no official greasemonkey release for palemoon, but there was an inoffical one one github so it seems to work now.
Do you have a good theme that you can recommend? I use one of the official chrome simulating ones and it is a bit less completely ugly but not perfect. If you know a good one (or a firefox one for that matter) Id love to know.

I really like Icecat.

But the latest windows version is from last year.
Does that make Icecat insecure? Everywhere you can read that regular updates are essential to security.
Or is Icecat for windows not recommendable anyway?

t. idiot, who just wants a secure browser
>>
>>136997851
I'm just using the default for now here is how mine looks
>>
>>136998121
IceCat has always been GNU/Linux-oriented. Richard Stallman himself uses it.

You should try Pale Moon instead if you're on Windows.

>>136997851
Official Greasemonkey is supported and I highly recommend it.

1. Go here
http://dev.addons.palemoon.org/addon/moon-tester-tool/

2. Go to about:extensions

3. Click "Moon tester tool" and find the details page

4. "Upload" this into Moon Tester Tool
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/file/637042/greasemonkey-3.11-fx.xpi (right click, save link as)

5. Restart Pale Moon

This works for most "unsupported" extensions.

* You'll need to turn if off to install addons.
>>
>>136989644
You basically can't. Root it and get a better OS on there, but ultimately it's a tracking device carried on you 24/7.

If you ever do anything that requires security, ditch the phone beforehand. You can't even trust them to actually be turned off.
>>
>>136996765
It uses open source software, but since we can't see what's actually running on their servers that doesn't really mean much. For all we know they could be running a modified version with backdoors or logging capabilities, and they might be collaborating with law enforcement. Or they might be telling the truth. It's a matter of faith. Also the CEO is a Jew.

>>136998971
You can customize pale moon quite a bit. What don't you like about it?
>>
>>136998121
Yeah, like the other anon said? I wouldn't recommend IceCat for windows. IceCat is basically for the whole GNU ecosystem i.e. you have Libreboot installed and use an FSF approved distro. The windows version isnt quite as maintained. They're struggling to maintain the Linux version as is.

This didnt seem to work Im afraid. Even with MoonTester active it told me that I have the wrong version of firefox for the addon (even though thats what Tester should fix if I understand correctly).
I went back to using the version I got from github for now, but would be good to find a permanent fix for this in the future.

Also on a different note: Can anyone tell me what option in appchanX controls the reply box?
In this version its really awkwardly placed in the bottom right and I cant move or resize it for some reason.

Works fine on all the ones I've tried. But I really suck ass at CSS/design. Any way you can tinker with the inspect/properties of #morevids and see if you can make it work? The thumbs are all an unordered <li> list contained directly under it. Then I can add the change if it's still good in my browsers. But no problem if it's too much of a hassle.

If I do anything on the page, even inspect element, everything jumps back into place. The cancer only happens on first load. I see you're using inline blocks instead of floats, and px for the margin instead of percent or em. I would try adjusting to the latter in both cases, but I honestly can't tell you why its rendering like that.

Are you using mediaqueries? Try looking at the site in non-standard widths or dimensions and adjust accordingly.

Reminder that diversification of risk does not equal greater freedom from macro effects.

Hence no matter the site you use your privacy and all your digital history ever dating back to cloud computing has been swept into an infinitely large sized NSA sweeper vault and sorted 1984 orwellian style through a targeting system that effects domestic citizen as equally as it does foreign operative. In short (((they))) know. Sure google can't sell your data but your notion of privacy is the illusion at a puppet master hand just like the Muse cover for Drones. A pre crime minority report system on steroids using predictive algorithms and key word flags. Then there is always the nameless creepy spook who has control of all this hardware in windowless buildings.

Install the rom without installing Google Apps

F-droid and apkmirror instead of GPlay

Root the shit out of it and use the built-in (or 3rd party) permission-blocking apps

Enjoy hating your life
