That's a great area. Tons of restaurants and hipster galleries on Bermondsey, Borough Market up the road and Tooley street has the offices of PwC. There area has couple of estates (public housing) and the occasional intra-gang stabbing but it's quite safe.

It's extremely safe, primarily because you're close to Central London.

Avoid deep South London: Peckham, Brixton. Don't believe the 'up and coming hype'. Be especially vigilant at night in S London.
