Yes. I would say that Lowland Scots are a bridge between the more Celtic Highlands and the very Anglo North England.

The Anglos settled all over Eastern Lowland Scotland and the area was also once joined with Northumbria until the Kingdom of Scotland took control of it.

The 'Scots' language is a split from Middle English and seems to be closer to Old English than Standard English is.

I myself have a Scottish surname with Old Norse/Old English origins (Anglo) but 3/4 of my grandparents have surnames that come from the Gaels (1 Irish Gaelic, 2 Scottish Gaelic).
