>>
>>136887607
They can't fight it, and they have no intention to fight it. Nor should they - why should an internet browser have any say in what you choose to look at? It's a browser, not a censor. Saying they want to combat fake news (as if it's a thing that some higher corporate or government entity needs to fight -- as if you are too stupid to tell what's true from what's false, as if you have no right to decide for yourself what you want to read or watch) is just window dressing on their authoritarian aims. Never trust them.

OK listen up /pol/
I see a lot of confusion here so let me help you with setting up your Internet.

1. Browsers - Vivaldi/Opera/Waterfox/(Chromium if you are on linux)
2. addons - uBlock Origin, HTTPS everywhere/Smart HTTPS, https://github.com/palant/searchlinkfix, and whatever else you need
3. This is important - If you want to block ads on any device which is connected to your router then
Use these DNS addresses in your router:
176.103.130.130
176.103.130.131
More on this:
https://adguard.com/en/adguard-dns/instruction.html Good thing about this is that you don't have to install addons like ublock Origin or others. And it will block ads on every device you have connected to your router. Configuration is simple, just post those DNS addresses on the Network settings of your router. Follow that link for more info.
4. Encrypt your DNS addresses. Again if you are using above DNS addresses then it's been taken care of, but you can use other 3rd party DNS services like openDNS or DNScrypt to encrypt your DNS address. You can check status of DNS by going to https://www.dnsleaktest.com
5. If you absolutely need VPN service, remember that only good VPN are paid VPN with no log and data retention policies. FreeVPN cannot be trusted in anyway. Also most free VPN nodes are blocked by 4chan.

If you need more tips don't hesitate to ask.

Google search link fix
=============================

Google search link fix is a Firefox, Chrome and Opera extension that prevents Google and Yandex search pages from modifying search result links when you click them. This is useful when copying links but it also helps privacy by preventing the search engines from recording your clicks. [Detailed description](https://palant.de/2011/11/28/google-yandex-search-link-fix)

Installing build prerequisites
------------------------------

In order to build Google search link fix you will need to install [Node.js](https://nodejs.org/) first (Node 6 or higher is required). You will also need [Gulp](http://gulpjs.com/), run the following command to install it (administrator privileges required):
>cont
>>
>>136909486
npm install --global gulp-cli

Additional dependencies are installed using the following command in the extension directory:

npm install

How to build
------------

If all the dependencies are installed, creating a Firefox build is simply a matter of running Gulp:

gulp xpi

This will produce a file named like `searchlinkfix-n.n.n.xpi`. Creating a build for Chrome and Opera is similar but requires a private key that the build should be signed with:

gulp crx --private-key=key.pem

This will create a signed Chrome packaged named like `searchlinkfix-n.n.n.crx`. If you omit the private key parameter you will get an unsigned ZIP package instead.

How to test
-----------

In order to test your changes you can load the repository to your browser as an unpacked extension directly. Then you will only have to reload in order for the changes to apply.

Integration tests
-----------------

Running the integration tests requires [Python 2.7](https://www.python.org/downloads/) and [Marionette Python Client](http://marionette-client.readthedocs.io/en/latest/basics.html#getting-the-client) to be installed. You can run the integration tests with the following command:

gulp test --firefox-path=/usr/bin/firefox

You should change `/usr/bin/firefox` into the actual Firefox path on your system. This will instrument Firefox to test Google search link fix on various websites, all Python files from the `tests` directory will be executed. For these files the `run()` function will be executed with the [Marionette instance](http://marionette-client.readthedocs.io/en/latest/reference.html#marionette) as the only parameter. In addition to the official API, the following methods and properties are available:
>cont
>>
>>136909486

* `driver.wait_for_load()` will wait until the current page is fully loaded (note that `Marionette.navigate()` will merely wait until the `DOMContentLoaded` event).
* `driver.wait_until(method)` will wait until the method returns `True` or time out after 10 seconds.
* `driver.accept_alert()` accepts an alert box displayed by the webpage.
* `driver.restore_url()` is to be called in the `with` statement and will navigate to previous URL once the `with` statement is exited.
* `driver.get_urls()` will return the list of URLs the browser navigated to (including redirects) since the previous call.
* `driver.close_windows(keep)` closes all windows but the one indicated as parameter.
* `driver.close_background_tabs()` closes all but the currently selected tab in the current browser window.
* `driver.keys` contains the key constants from `marionette_driver.keys`.
* `driver.expected` contains the [built-it wait conditions](http://marionette-client.readthedocs.io/en/latest/reference.html#module-marionette_driver.expected).

The [`HTMLElement` API](http://marionette-client.readthedocs.io/en/latest/reference.html#htmlelement) has been extended as well:

* `element.click()` emulates a left mouse button click on the element.
* `element.middle_click()` emulates a middle mouse button click on the element.
* `element.context_click()` emulates a right mouse button click on the element.

Note that Marionette lacks a way to track navigated URLs which is why the testhelper extension is added to the Firefox profile in addition to Google search link fix. This extension is required for `driver.get_urls()` functionality.

I just tried the adguard dns and I'm not sure if I got it right. It seems to be blocking most of them, but then I get pic related. Is that because the ad is added by google onto the results page, rather than being queried from a different server by a script like most ads are?

I also noticed that it makes pages look sort of ugly, as I get a huge square of "page not found" where the ad should be, whereas before with ublock origin it would clean the page up and remove those. Should I just use both of them to get both benefits?

Anyway I was wondering, is it better to have both the dns + ublock origin as far as cpu/mem usage goes? I'm assuming if nothing comes back in the first place, then that's less for ublock to process. That true or should I just stick to ublock alone?

ublock origin and ublock are two different things. Stick with the first one. Latter one is made by a jewfaggot.
Stick with both, DNS thing doesn't even cost you any RAM or CPU and ublockO in itself is pretty lightweight.
There are other security addons for firefox like cookie destroyers and such. Look into it, unless you are on a toaster RAM and CPU won't matter to run firefox with shitload of addons.

Does brave has the "return" button when you open the browser after you closed it with the tabs?

To you know, return to what you were viewing?

why does Waterfox open 2 instances of Waterfox when you use it? What would you think the purpose of this is?
>>
>>136917199
It can open the last tabs you had open, yes.
>>
>>136905539
i think nintendo uses opera in their consoles.
>>
>>136917332
Firefox profiles. I think you already have firefox installed on your computer. Waterfox is probably detecting that profile and showing it up. You can check it by typing about:profiles on your addressbar. Also waterfox is a meme. Better get Icecat if you have to install an outdated fork.
I'm gonna get a lot of shit for saying this, but there is literally nothing wrong with Firefox.

Sure. I've been using palemoon for the past two weeks but sure, switch browsers, whatever.
>>
>>136917371
Thanks, i'm switching then, that button does miracles for people who read digital books, and since i don't like to support those "globalist agendas" i'm following /pol/ on this matter.
>>
>>136917726
Not a button. It's a setting. It will start with last tabs, home page, or the "new tab" page.
>>
>>136917557
thanks for the answer, but I fail to see why you need 2 instances of WF to check both the Roaming and Local profiles? Seems sketchy to me, like perhaps 1 instance in mirroring the other and ???
>>
>>136878521
I've used it for 13 years. I'm ready to bail.

>>
>>136918249
no idea why, i thought it was profiles. Don't use waterfox. Go with icecat if you want to go GNU way, also use linux if you really want to make a difference.
>>
>>136918605
why can't i post on hitomi you about to get nuked faggot?
>>
Just gonna stick with firefox.
I got a ton of privacy addons and heavily modified config, thanks /g/.
Brave is a buggy mess and currently is not even showing the bookmars bar.
Think like your are using the Matrix against itself, like in the movie. Who cares.
