Im independant carpenter, landscaper, and all around handyman in Montana.
I make $15 an hour unskilled tasks (mowing, raking, splitting firewood, moving heavy things etc etc)
And $20 an hour skilled (carpentry, stonework, building anything really, electrical, fixing stuff, etc etc)
Pay is good but work is sporadic so I really gotta hustle and sell my services ruthlessly. I once had a standoff with another contractor who insisted the job I was doing was his (owner accidentally told both of us to redo the light fixtures in the house). Ended with me drawing my .45 and politley insisting he vacate the premisis until we could speak to the owner, who ignorant of the near shooting his absent mindedness had caused paid both of us for it anyways.
It can be rough but Ive got a 2 bedroom house on some land, a good wife, and a fat useless "guard dog" who gets beat up by the cat.
We are still here, people just tend to not notice us. Whats really funny is when some minwage cuck slaving away in starbucks for $8.50 an hour sneers at me for being uncultured and forced to perform manual labour. I make more off of one weekend gig busting my ass than he does in a week.

Understood. But the thread suffered and died because of that.
