I've thought about the north of Spain. They have acres of cheap farmland. I'm not rosey eyed about making it a successful farm. I think a few passive sources of income and an internet based job would be realistic. And as the other anon said bring down living costs by growing your own food and you'll need less money.

There's just no chance in the uk unless you are very rich and/or are related to lord and lady Fontelrotherington-reeder the 3rd

Not all suburbs, friend. I live about 2 hours from New York City, and it's pretty rural.

Hell, you could find some pretty rural places within an hour of many large cities in the U.S.
