Staring at the sun without proper filtration, even when it is partially obscured by the moon during an eclipse, can damage or destroy photo-receptor cells of the eye's retina, leaving blind spots in a person's field of vision. How? Well, basically you are looking at the sun. Your popils are wide open because sun is partially obscured by the moon. Few parts it isn't! Few years ago I decided to look at the sun during eclipse thinking; "Who cares, I'll cover one eye but I wanna see it". That was 10 years ago and I still have a bit blurry vision on my left eye. That day everything was different, all shadows had strange "halfmoon" pattern and everything looked like shined by a moonlight instead of sun.

AMERIFATS, DON'T BUY SHITTY "PROTECTION" SUNGLASSES AND DON'T LOOK DIRECTLY TH THE SUN ON THAT DAY.
