I have an extra bedroom and bathroom in my home which is located in a fairly desirable location. So I thought I'd try to earn some extra cash and list the space on AirbnB. That was last summer. I've had some really nice guests but more often than not I didn't like the sounds of the reservation -- either they were partiers, too young, wanted to bring their cat, their dog, their infant, their friends -- when I had clearly listed maximum two adults, or one adult with older child and no pets. (My home and property are not infant or toddler proof, and I have my own animals -- don't want the responsibility of someone else's.) Anyway -- I declined more reservation requests than I accepted so Airbnb put my listing on some kind of probation wherein my listing would not show. So I was actually fine with that, because in truth even with the reservations I did accept, the hassle was not worth the money. Then I guess because I didn't fight the probation period, I started getting emails and phone calls from them encouraging me to list the space again. I was like, "No, thanks, Airbnb. I kind of like my extra space unoccupied and I have found other ways to bring in extra cash minus the hassle."
