Anyone remember that thread a week or two ago about the Russian cargo jet that went dark for a good hour over North Korea before it landed in Seoul?

And now the North Koreans suddenly have warheads miniaturized enough to fit on a missile, despite previous estimates that it would be at least 2018 before they did so?

why not add Iran to this mix

Russia wouldn't help the norks. Believe it or not Russia has historically taken a very firm line on nuclear proliferation, perhaps even moreso than the US, because Russia is extremely reliant on their nuclear arsenal as a means of local power projection and coercion. Norks getting nuclear ICBMs would dilute Russia's influence in the region as a great power.

The US relies on it too but not quite to the degree of Russia.

they've taken a firm line in their official rhetoric meanwhile they are constantly losing track of their fissile material from the reactors of abandoned naval ships to say nothing about their missing warhead incidents from the 90s. Russia has no principles, norks can probably buy warheads from bribeable generals on demand.

That's due to general Russian incompetence and civilian/low level military corruption. An operation like what OP is suggesting would require approval from the very top of the Russian military and State, likely from Putin himself. There is zero chance of that occuring.

Have you?

no, but your stance is wrong, russia and china are supporting the rest of the enemies to fight us in an all out attack.

No they aren't neocon. Go tell your batshit delusions to someone who cares like Bill Kristol or John McCain.

Russia and China help North Korea in many ways. China bought NK coal, Russia allows NK workers to get a job in Russia and bring hard currency back to NK. NK is very useful country for China and Russia. Kim can say directly what Putin would want to say: "I can destroy West and turn its cities into radioactive dust".

I don't know, you could make the argument that Russia might actually have something to gain from providing North Korea with nuclear ICBM capability.

For one, pro-Russian news outlets were in an uproar after Tom Cotton suggested that the U.S. provide it's allies with nuclear weaponry in an effort to subvert an old U.S.-Soviet nuclear treaty. If those news outlets reflect the opinions of the Russian government, you might argue this is a sort of preemptive tit-for-tat move (and if the old rumors about the U.S. selling the Saudis nukes are true, possibly not even preemptive).

Second, Russia has been quietly improving economic ties with North Korea; canceling debt, exporting fuel, etc. While they are currently going along with UN sanctions now, it's possible that the sale of nuclear warheads might prove enough to give Russia a preferred position with NK if tensions cool and the sanctions are lifted.

If China chooses to abandon North Korea to keep American business, Russia might take China's place as NK's superpower patron.

Russia doesn't want North Korea to collapse. If it did, Russia would be swamped with refugees and have U.S. troops on another of it's borders. If it takes the sale of nuclear weapons to ensure that North Korea stays clunking along, so be it.

why are amerilards worried when NATO has the tech to disable atoms in nukes
