Something believed by many is the conviction that Steven Universe is a propaganda piece in support of feminism, progressivism and even marxism. However, taking another look at the show would give quite a different result. Another way one could look at this cartoon is a criticism of not only progressivism, marxism and conservatism, but in addition in support of libertarianism.
How one may see this is simply by analyzing the problems faced by the main cast. In the show, what is the #1 threat to the main characters? While there are many people in town who do not approve of or fear the Gems, they don't pose a threat to them at all, nor do they seem like they ever would even if they could. This unintentionally shows the reality many people LARPing as eternal victims refuse to believe, that people really don't care about hopw you live your life. That even the people who dissaprove of your sexual preference, ethnicity, gender, etc.. still don't care about you and rarely think about you. Obviously, it's possible to find exceptions to this generally true rule, however even in those cases, it is important to look into the exact reasons.
However, in the show, all is not well, the characters actually do face a constant threat, that being the Gem government, (which, on a side note, is almost all females, yet very imperialistic and authoritarian). This is because of the nature of the Gem government, which demands conforming to a strict caste system, (something that failed communist states tend to have). This goes against the marxist/conservative focus on labor as the central role of life, as the characters seeking of things outside of their labor is the reason they've achieved all they had. The show makes sure to show abundantly how the characters were not as happy as before and to show the negative affects of the gem government on them and other people.
