One the one hand the U.S. gave money to a group touting its pro-Israeli/Palestinian peace efforts. Said group *actually* used some of that money to run against Benji

On the other hand: Campaign worked directly and indirectly with foreign actor - quite likely coordinating with criminal acts like hacking - as a trade-off for supporting foreign actor's needs over those of allies or even the U.S.

The fun thing about impeachment is the underlying mechanisms are abstract and ambiguous enough that it doesn't matter.

That said, tit-for-tat when it works against the U.S. and our allies could certainly qualify as treasonous if you desperately need a criminal act. That's the sort of thing that would fall on Mannafort and Flynn, not Trump.

Beyond that, who knows. That's why there's an investigation.

>The investigation is into Russia's role in tampering with our elections.

According to 4 agencies, one of which is confirmed in engaging in political espionage against Americans, Russia did tamper (provided you believe Obama's agencies didn't make it up, which isn't outside the realm of possibility but let's play along)

It has nothing to do with this particular investigation because it was revealed its ACTUALLY involving Trump's finances. Not Russia. Finances. They're digging stuff up to embarrass him. Not to get to the bottom of Russia. It's by design.

>BUT TRUMP HAD MONEY IN A RUSSIAN BANK

If you've paid attention to the mainstream media, you were most likely told this must be indicative of collusion. Trump has money in many banks across the globe.

Can you name the criminal predicate that warrants this witch hunt? Last I checked, Trump didn't publish any emails.

Wikileaks did.

Because the investigation has spread into that area does not mean the investigation is *about* that. In fact, that's a pretty shallow takeaway.

In attempting to find how far the tentacles reached, something about the campaign and Trump's finances has warranted further investigation. It doesn't mean anything, certainly not that the investigation was *solely* about Trump's finances.

Why it matters: It raises the possibility that Mueller is trying to build a more expansive case against Manafort - unconnected to the 2016 election and possibly tied to his foreign lobbying - in order to flip him against other top Trump team members.

Flynn already tried to get immunity. This shit gets worse and worse for Team Trump everyday. And it's gonna get far, far, far, worse.

>So what's the crime?
>We're going in circles. You don't investigate someone for no reason. Considering how the FBI has become politically compromised, it's not outside the realm of probability it's persecution.

Let's spell out very concretely what the investigation is: an IC investigation into tactics and breadth of Russia's attempts to influence our election. If you don't believe that to be a crime, I'd argue that the IC's conclusions that Russia dictated the hacking and theft operations on the RNC, DNC and others certainly qualifies.

Why is this confusing to you? An investigation into that and those crimes could certainly bring you into discussions (not criminal investigations necessarily!) with Trump team members. There's no formal investigation against Manafort that's been revealed, for example.

Then stop reading? The media seeks big and/or salacious stories because people read them. When people read them advertisers get more impressions.

Often the media is privy to much more than the general public because, you know, that's their job. They establish sources who often will only speak on the condition of anonymity. So in some cases they may be able to supply information that's not publicly available.

The investigation is into whether Drumpf colluded. Everyone is already assuming Russia hacked our "unhackable" election. I'd like to see some clear evidence of that.

The amusing thing is that the worst allegation is that Russia ln hackers leaked Pedosta's emails and exposed Hillary's corruption.

That is an intelligence investigation. Not a criminal one. What is the criminal predicate?

>Before signing up with Donald Trump, former campaign manager Paul Manafort secretly worked for a Russian billionaire with a plan to “greatly benefit the Putin Government,” The Associated Press has learned. The White House attempted to brush the report aside Wednesday, but it quickly raised fresh alarms in Congress about Russian links to Trump associates.

>Manafort proposed in a confidential strategy plan as early as June 2005 that he would influence politics, business dealings and news coverage inside the United States, Europe and former Soviet republics to benefit President Vladimir Putin’s government, even as U.S.-Russia relations under Republican President George W. Bush grew worse.

>Manafort pitched the plans to aluminum magnate Oleg Deripaska, a close Putin ally with whom Manafort eventually signed a $10 million annual contract beginning in 2006, according to interviews with several people familiar with payments to Manafort and business records obtained by the AP. Manafort and Deripaska maintained a business relationship until at least 2009, according to one person familiar with the work.

>“We are now of the belief that this model can greatly benefit the Putin Government if employed at the correct levels with the appropriate commitment to success,” Manafort wrote in the 2005 memo to Deripaska. The effort, Manafort wrote, “will be offering a great service that can re-focus, both internally and externally, the policies of the Putin government.”

Working to benefit Putin, working for putin, potato potato.

Those are for the whole state. The only areas that are decidedly democratic are the ghettos. The rest of cities are evenly split, with rural areas going Republican.

What disparity? It's certainly not on the individual level, upper income brackets are evenly split. Any disparity could only be caused by corporate income tax revenues, which are only coincidently reported in the same areas as your precious negro and spic hordes.

What Evidence? I think you watch too much CNN. Simply meeting with a "russian" isn't evidence. This investigation has been going on for a year or more and nothing has been found. You've had multiple intelligence officials from Obama and the current administration under oath testifying nothing happened and there is no "there" there.

Now that this farce is starting to be seen for what it is all the legacy media is talking about is some "magical" evidence but provide scant details on what it is or how they know it exists. Now within the last month all of a sudden the Prez is "going down!"

Honestly Dems and establishment Republicans better hope he isn't going down or the next election cycle will see all manner of outraged voter kicken them out. Happened to newt and the gop after they impeached Clinton. (And he stayed in office)

If Russia is disrupting American democracy, notably the nation entire, they seem to be doing an excellent job of it, because the media will not stop talking about "Russian interference."

Because you don’t have imagination or critical thinking skills to unpack this matter, I’ll do it for you.

I believe “Russian interference” = the nation found out, from Wikileaks, not Russia, that the DNC and Hillary Clinton are wholly-corrupt and have an incestuous relationship with the media. The media took it upon itself to report endlessly about the contents of the emails.

Russia didn’t do that. Wikileaks sort of did that. The media did that. So Americans became exposed to true information. This is key, because the agency of the American voter is called into question for making an informed decision about their candidate. If that is disruption, then wouldn’t the media be the primary disruptor in nearly every election going back to the nation’s founding?

cont.
>>
>>136718749
>>136720586

cont.

We know that the publication of the emails didn’t affect the campaign because Clinton’s poll numbers actually increased after the emails were published. In fact, in the face of news report after news report indicating Clinton is projected to sweep the election, there were several reasons how the election was influenced against Clinton's favor:

>Podesta, idiot baby boomer that he is, fell for a phishing scam in the late fall, revealing, among other things, more malfeasance from Clinton and the presence of a weird pizza parlor in Chevy Chase
>Undercover videos revealing Hillary Clinton, via proxy, sent psychopaths into Trump rallies to give the perception that Trump supporters are violent
>James Comey announcing the reopening of the Clinton email scandal, which was COMPLETELY UNRELATED to Russia
>the alt right

Ultimately, this boils down to “Trump wouldn’t have won had it not been for Russia.”
Even if it’s proven, on public record, Trump had absolutely zero involvement in Wikileaks obtaining and publishing the DNC emails, leftists will never accept Trump legitimately won even though he did.

>>
>>136716191
The purpose is to delegitimize Trump's presidency via casting allusions that he or actors in his campaign colluded with Russia to see him elected.

This is plainly obvious because there is constant rampant foreign influence in a massive amount of our politics. Yet it takes the election of a president firmly opposed to establishment for it to become not just a serious issue, but often argued as the biggest political scandal in the nation's history. Funny that.

They have to impeach him. They have no choice. More than 90% of Americans said they want Trump out of office and that's AFTER GOP slanted the numbers. They feel the pressure and will comply to America's overwhelming demand. I bet by next week there will be a full Articles of Impeachment against Trump, and by next month there will be a damn near unanimous vote to get him the fuck out of office. That's how it's gonna go, and it's gonna be glorious.
Afterwards? Pence will withdraw from the 2020 election and with no Republican candidate, a Democrat will win the election by default, then we can get on the path to fixing this country and the economy. That's not even thinking about the blue wave that will overtake 2018 (which yes, this will almost definitely happen considering how sick the country is going to be of Pence plus Democratic determination) which will diminish the likelihood of Pence's agenda going through.

I've read up on this kind of stuff and I've checked the polls plus the statistics and I can damn near ASSURE you this is how this is going to play out. These are going to be a great couple of years, I can guarantee you that.

This. The Dems know the odds of getting 67 Senators to remove him from office, based on John Podesta's poorly secured inbox & a "hacked" DNC server the FBI never got to examine, is slim to none.

BUT, they're trying to create the myth that HRC wasn't an incompetent, lazy candidate who botched a layup election against her dream candidate. Also, they don't want it accepted that Trump's election was a rejection of the Obama era. A lot of stupid people believe Bush lost Florida in 2000 but it was "stolen" by Bush. Bush won the FL popular vote on election night and every subsequent recount despite the Dem's best effort to sue their way into a win before the SCOTUS finally put an end to recount after recount. Bush officially won by 537 votes and that's even after over a thousand so-called "hanging chads" that were clearly his votes were discarded. Repeat a lie often enough & becomes the truth for most people. The average Democrat retard will always parrot "DRUMPT WAS APPOINTED BY PUTIN!!!" for the rest of time that America exists.

This theory rests exclusively on the idea that the entire intelligence community cannot be trusted. If you do not accept that, then the entire "explanation" falls apart.

Skepticism should cut both ways - you shouldn't only be skeptical in the ways that lean you toward feeling like you have deep inside information. You should be as skeptical of the third party information sources as the MSM. That seems to be the problem here. Once one is able to reject anything from the MSM the cynicism goes out the door.

Further, what "case" is it you expect me to make? At this point I'm taking on merits that an investigation into the Russian attempts to influence our election is, in fact, an investigation into the Russian attempt to influence our election.

Can you understand why asking questions like "what's the crime?" or "is this treason?" are not really aligned with the position I'm in?

I don't think this is a fair characterization. I'm yielding to the IC for conclusions on the Russian interference. I'm not ascribing "guilt" to anyone who has some connection - I'm not saying Trump colluded or that Manafort is guilty of something or anything like that.

That isn't contrarian. I'm employing reason and working within the parameters of my own set of information.

That you don't trust the IC makes any argument within _or_ beyond that intractable. But my stance should seem defensible otherwise.
