I traveled to South East Asia and Japan this Summer.

When I traveled to Thailand and Malaysia I felt a sense of superiority, like a Spanish conquistador seeing the unwashed Aztec tribals for the first time.

But when I traveled to Japan I felt like the uncivilized tribal instead. I saw children bow and give their seats to the elderly. I saw clean streets filled with orderly and trusting people. I watched a fat wallet left on a busy street for 5 minutes without anyone snatching it. I don't think I heard a car honk once in Tokyo.

That's not to say they don't have serious societal issues related to overwork and stress, but those seem like straightforward fixes.

It pains me to say but the average Japanese town and citizen is superior to the average American one. That's just a fact.

standard visa paths for japan: student visa, work visa, marriage visa, 10-year work experience visa, and of course, the educator visa for JET people.

if you go for master's degree in japan, you can use student visa to enter country. Entering a JLS also grants you a student visa.
