What are some alternatives to Google?
I'm using firefox instead of chrome and hotmail instead of gmail.
But are there any realistic alternatives to the google search engine and youtube?
Every other search engine is absolute trash and there are no video hosting sites as good as youtube.
Google have shown how they will shape the world if they are given total power of information which they are currently seizing. It must be stopped before it's too late.

Being able to search adult content on demand is fucking great though.
You aren't going to get anything with nearly as much reach as YouTube, but some alternatives are Vid.me, Dailymotion, or Vimeo.

use ad-nauseaum to mess with googles ad model. It blocks ads to you but clicks on every ad. Makes the advertisers pay for nothing, giving google a bad name.
Duckduckgo for google (its currently the best I think).
Torrents instead of youtube
Any free email provider instead of gmail (or paid one, some have quite a few nice features like your own domain)
OpenMaps or Bing maps (but they are not as good as google maps yet)
Cyanogenmod or any other open androids instead of Android
