This is true. Anything can happen.

I think this is all posturing. For Kim, having the US as a big enemy solidifies his support, plus may get him foreign aid in the form of de facto bribes. Similarly, with the US, having NK as a massive threat will make moderates less likely to support impeaching the Donald.

It's all a game... within a game.

There seems to be this common idea that NK has to attack us first before we'll retaliate. That isn't the case; there doesn't need to be an attack for justification, them having the option to attack in of itself is the justification for invasion. Nobody wants another Korean War, but if NK doesn't get rid of their nuclear program soon then it's pretty much inevitable. Trump has already stated that he doesn't care if SK gets glassed in the process.
