I work with a DE company that does work for google and I got an email once because I had Pepe the frog as my G+ profile picture (nobody uses Google+ really, it's a dead social network) It was just regular pepe not anything nazi or with any symbols. The HR lady told me that "some people might find it offensive". I wrote a response explaining how I felt about memes as jokes and funny pictures, how pepe the frog was just a cartoon and how silly it was for anybody to be offended and that in fact the whole thing was a joke from 4chan and you'd have to be pretty naive to take it as a nazi symbol.

She replied with an ADL link where it said that pepe was a racist symbol, I didn't want to lose my job so I just didn't pursue the issue any further and changed my picture to something else. It made me feel so upset because I like the frog and I hate dumb people who have no idea what's going coming to censor me specially when it's based on ridiculous sources such as the ADL. I was planning on changing the picture soon in any case but having someone tell me that I *had* to change made me feel really angry.
