I think it might be useful to start attacking the left with a "leftists aren't liberal" argument. James Damore asserted that his views are classical liberal. I think anything with the word "liberal" appeals to a huge swath of people who don't have very well formed beliefs but consider themselves to be "liberal", and they have no clue that classical liberalism is a right-wing ideology.

"Libertarians" and classical liberals might be able to finally reclaim the term if the left becomes known for opposition to core tenets of liberalism like freedom of speech, freedom of religion, etc. I really think this could be a turning point in modern society.
