I'll be 49 this year. It's a blessing and a curse to find that time does accelerate the older that you are, and you really do feel like the same baseline person that you've always been... just with more gray hair and experiences to look back on.

Later we saw the IMF have to bail these places out because of the Boomer looting through investment funds, etc.

What you see now is us and younger generations legislated into paying for the upkeep of the Boomer cows, while we get thrown the occasional scarps. If anyone thinks they are paying into pensions and benefits now that will be there in the future, they are seriously deluded. It's all fake and what you pay now is for the upkeep of Boomers' retirement lifestyle. Your deductions don't go into some .gov account with you name on it, they go into general revenue which is then recycled back to the accounts of people currently retired.

We watched the Boomers drag politics into every freaking area of life, saying "the personal is the political" and vice versa. We saw how that made pretty much everything worse, and made them insufferable. So most of us took a pass on politics and social action, figured it was for the radicals.

Now we're finally starting to realize we don't have that option; someone has to fix the messes the Boomers inherited, made worse, and created themselves. We still don't have the desire to get involved that they had, but it's like changing a diaper: no one actually likes it, but it has to be done.

Since we don't actually enjoy the political process, we're not going to have much patience for fucking around with it. We will be more likely to take a scorched-earth, salt-the-fields approach, to make sure we don't have to keep having the same battles.

It wasn't possible to stop the boomers. There were just so fucking many of them in government and corporate management by the time we started to enter the workforce. Not gonna look up the numbers, but I think it's a safe bet they outnumbered the next 2 generations combined.

The slide started right when we entered the workforce. The dot com bubble popped. 9/11, then the housing bubble popped a couple years after that. Then the SJW leftist shit started the slide into the hysteria we see now.

Then you look around and find the boomers are staying at their jobs and elected offices until basically death. How does this happen? Well, the CEOs and upper management of those companies are boomers. The boomer votes fare outnumber X and Y votes. How else the fuck do dinosaurs like McCain and Pelosi get voted in over and over? Their same-age peers vote them in.

One of the boomer qualities I find most infuriating is their total lack of any empathy on how much harder future generations have it. I don't think GenX has that quality. We got the beginning of the boomer shaft, but all the ones I've talked to are willing to admit that Y's and Millennials are even more fucked than we were. Every boomer I talk to is completely unconscious of that fact. They have no concept at all they had it better than any generation before....and after.
