Can I tell you my whole story?
It's not good.

My maternal grandfather waw\s an American, he claimed so Cherokee and by god the fucker was red as sin.
He was a paratrooper in WWII, I don't know much more than that. I was young as I lost him but he was everything to me. Never thought to ask the real questions.

On his wall he had a shipbuilders note (certificate?) something like that. I guess it was of note he worked to build a ship. I know not the time frame but it, as framed, iiirc looked generically wooden.

He served in the war and came stateside and worked for the Army Corp of Engineers. He worked on the Oregon Coast including the original Tillamook jetty, if I was told and remember correctly.

Going back....

He came from WW2 with a woman from Ansbach, my grandmother. During the 60/70 era they had their own daughter but also brought my mother from Ansbach to live with them as their stepdaughter. She was the daughter of my grandmother's sister.

I was born to my mother (the step daughter) and a largely finnish lad along oregon coast...
