the whole world is. too much peace results in authoritarianism. its cyclical. Society in general (in the west especially but increasingly around the globe) is untouched by war and by hardship. Without these to act as parameters people are increasingly apathetic and reliant on outside forces. War will break out again soon - either in this generation or the next - and the terror and destruction of it will reinvigorate an interest in freedom and self reliance for another few generations.
