>>

>SR-72
most likely, hell the blackbird was near retirement by the time the public knew about it.
>>
Satellites have replaced the need to another SR-x aircraft. That's what killed the A-12 and 71.
>>
You mean the SR-91? Probably. We don't just retire aircraft without replacements
>>
>>136541139
I think the US would like an alternative as satellites can be destroyed or disabled.
>>
>>136541139
This is for when they space nuke the satellites. I'd imagine it can achieve low orbit itself

You know, while we're on the subject of black projects, any non-Americans want to chime in on stuff their countries might be working on? We all know the rumors of America's top secret toys, but what about other countries?
>>
Despite the role of satellites taking over for spyplanes, there's still a demand for high speed atmospheric veh's. I think that drones have taken on most of that role, however. Of course this isn't /x/, but one theory about black triangles seen since the 80's is that they're blimps. Giant stealth blimps capable of operating at extreme altitudes that employ the latest in camouflage including light-bending invisibility and acting as a "mother ship" of sorts for drones.

Russia is apparently working on laser weapons for planes. Can't wait for proxy Star wars with our laser railgun equipped ships.

Here's an old thread where the OP told an almost convincing story.

>>
>>136541644
I think the U.S. has a monopoly on alien/black aircraft for the most part. The Nazis received the first higher technology and then brought it over to the U.S. through paperclip and the surrendering of advanced technology.

The U.S. continued to develop this technology and eventually make contact and work with certain aliens in exchange for further technology and innovation.

Is the SR-72 the same as the Aurora?
>>
>>136541139

Satellites are extremely predictable, expensive, and not very flexible on mission profiles. It's pretty likely that the SR-72 or it's equivalent and probably even it's sucessor has been flying for a long time.

Disappear in what sense? Orbits can't really change much once you're up there. Not enough fuel onboard. NORAD and their opposites abroad actively track everything up there, and amatuers watch too.
>>
>>136544117
It could outrun missiles and took off with full tanks. It leaked fuel due to the high heat from speed and had to refuel shortly after takeoff.

I had a routine deal yesterday that freaked everyone out. I won't go in to details, but I can guarantee that pilot is a good career for the next 50 years. A self driving car can pull over. Can a plane? Too many variables.

If modern radars can detect an F-117 then there's no real point to the plane, so using it as a test sounds believable

>>136543803
The U-2 is a more practical platform, and it is the only remaining U.S. manned high-level reconnaissance aircraft. If that was retired they would have none, I guess this is the reason. There were rumours of it being retired a few years ago due to costs but this was reprieved due to the aircraft's powerful friends in Government. Same happened to the A-10 Thunderbolt several times over. Whether or not the U-2 mission could be carried out in other ways is an interesting question.

Not true there's numerous reasons why the SR-71 was retired and no replacement was publicly disclosed. Military satellites became the more cost effective way to keep tabs on other countries. The only thing that they are trying to design out of the SR-71s retirement are hypersonic vehicles. (If you can even call it a continuation) And not the kind that are flown by pilots.

The next big reveal idn't that amazing, considering they're all satellites. Beyond that, you're never going to be told about our nuclear powered, any range, any flight ceiling aircraft.

Gauging on how the public perceives normal nuclear energy plants, the public knowledgeable that there are nuclear reactors flying over their heads, is slim to none. They'd freak out.

Think nuclear sub meets limitless ceiling satellite killer. They claim we stopped the planes sometime in the 70's, maybe 80's. No fucking way we'd do that, considering the potential.

In before larp shill, grandpa worked on a coming system with weird atmospheric tolerances for a coming system without water. They compartmentalized the projects, so he only worked on that aspect. He swore up and down they are flying reactors over your faggot ass heads.

Well, at the very least it's basically an open secret that the B-2 uses active stealth in addition to the passive stealth built into its design. And of course active stealth is the big kicker: if you get it right, then it doesn't matter how advanced enemy radar gets, you can just cancel it out. I've always figured the F-22 has to have SOME active stealth onboard, even just low-level versions.

>"Furthermore, under Executive Order, the President is the ultimate holder of authority to determine the classification of items, with a few exceptions (e.g., politically embarrassing material may not be classified in order to cover it up). There are actually only a few laws which govern the use of classified material, and they tend to be rather specific; so questions of how classified information is handled is a matter handled by the Executive Branch, not laws.

>Furthermore, many would argue that Article II of the Constitution ("The executive power shall be vested in the President of the United States of America") would mean that no executive branch employee or official could refuse a lawful request by the President to see or do something. The Constitution simply does not contemplate an inferior officer overruling the exercise of executive power by the President on matters of administration of the executive branch."

Wrong.

The ChiComs and the Soviets have the data on the RCS of the Raptor and Lighting II which are the PUBLICLY available data. Hell, we let them have it. We let them think they stole it.

Here's the thing; Chink and Ruskies still use valve set radar because of the EMP protection valves offer. The thing is, valves cannot tune to the microwave bands our "Gen IV" aircraft broadcast in RCS on their systems.

Commies cannot differentiate a Raptor from a drop of rain with their tech.

They know if they upgrade to current American radar, we can hack and disable their systems.

agreed. and also the blueprint for organization, and therefore intelligence and progress, in a thermodynamically-challenged universe.

global entropy always increases over time, no escaping that. but evolution is a product of local order being created via strange attraction at the expense of global increase in disorder.

those little islands of local order are what allow for life, intelligence and progress in a Universe bubbling like an unthinkably huge cauldron of fire.
