That's great if the problem that google is attempting to address is a wider societal one. If google wants to figure out how to change literally our entire culture in order to create a larger pipeline of female candidates to apply to google.

But right now it seems that google is convinced that, in an environment where something like 80% of computer science degrees are given to men and where google is something like 70% women that there only reason it's not 50/50 is because google is unconsciously sexist. There is this gigantic conflating of 'the possibility of sexism preventing women from pursuing stem' with 'if a company doesn't hire 50/50 at all times no matter what the ratio of applicants are then they are literally evil.' And it's not google's responsibility to change our entire education system just to make their ratio look a tiny bit better. It's their job to take those we've educated and find each and every qualified candidate.
